FFSA Women's league?

Post by Easy Tiger »

Many clubs had their trials I think...what's new in the new FFSA women's league? Who went where? Who's coaching who? I know Campbelltown has a new coach (Rob Drusetta) and I heard that they have recruited a lot with great changes in the team. Will they be a new force in 2009?

Any other club with new coach/players? Is everyone going to Sturt again??? The whole Adelaide United??

Is SASI ruling still applying for next year? And National players? Will Rachael Quigley and the other young matildas be allowed to play in the local comp?

And...did FFSA change any of the SAWSA decisions about not having reserves and only 8 teams in the premier league???

FFSA have only had control over the competition for 11 days, don't expect any changes to happen that quickly if at all. Especially given at the meeting to discuss these changes, the then SAWSA President stated that the changes were endorsed and supported by the FFSA CEO and Board....

Well, hopefully everything will be understood tonight then!
Like Dr D. says tho the new rules seem to be fully supported by ffsa too.

The way I see it many players aren't happy to play div 3 or div 2 with their clubs if they think they can play prems somewhere else. Does anyone know if smaller clubs picked some exciting players? It would be awesome to see the likes of Campbelltown and Para Hills to bring even more competition to the league! They have some advantages now in recruiting young players who don't want to sit and wait to play at bigger clubs...

"Western District Toros is a fantastic club and set up, im really impressed by the professionalism of how it is all run. After meeting the coaches and having explained to me i was really happy that we had taken our time in choosing a club.

I had taken my daughters out to North West Jags trials and it was terrible, i read on here how people are treated as individuals and not objects but it is totally the opposite!!!!!!!!!!! I spose they are trying to suck everyone in. They are a disorganised rabble and the coaching is very very basic with to many mistakes and that was during trials, imagine what i would be during the season!!!!!

I went out to fulham as well and thought they were good, they were trying to make up to many teams though and the coaches had obvious favourites which was disappointing."

Interesting comment...finally some useful information about who's who
It's great to her that some clubs are actually a bit professional. Things are becoming better for the sport I reckon!

It is in one of the locked topics about trials. Western Districts are doing a good job with their trials and a parent was impressed, that's all!

So what happened at the ffsa meeting? I can't say ive seen or heard much. Was it a waste of time, any success for the clubs, anything achieved?

Thanks

Not a lot got accomplished to be honest!

As per usual it all comes down to money, Mike Carter and Wendy explained where all the extra money goes (ref/coach development, school clinics, intiatives like the new arrivals program, mother/daughter clinics etc), and some clubs involved in the Amateurs maintained they didn't want to pay that much, or that they weren't actually seeing the benefits.

So the same old, same old.

Unfortunate as it cuts off a lot of pathways for girls playing e&d and amateurs, but I suppose if you're just playing for fun and not looking to go anywhere, 50 odd dollars a season looks a lot more attractive than a couple of hundred!

But still sad to see the sport getting splintered just as it's starting to take off and get a voice!

My advice would be if you are a girl/woman playing in teams that are looking to move to amateurs, and you actually want to get somewhere in the sport, move to a fed club ASAP, especially as most are having or have already had trials.

If you're just playing for fun however, good luck to you, and i'm sure we'll all welcome you back when (IF) everything gets sorted between FFSA and Amateurs!

And we have picked up a bit at Para Hills, improved the squad in a number of key areas that we lacked depth and strength in last year! Can't say too much though, Russell likes to keep things close to his chest, but look out for the Knights this year! Especially when we come back with international experience! :D

Good luck to Para Hills :D

Many players won't know where to go and there will be a lot of competition to make prem and under 17 squads I reckon

Why has Tracey Jenkins left Sturt? They had a great team with some of the best players!
And who will she coach? Has she moved to another club? Why do clubs get rid of quality coaches like that?

saw utd will still be the top side next season that they were last!
