Not a lot got accomplished to be honest!
As per usual it all comes down to money, Mike Carter and Wendy explained where all the extra money goes (ref/coach development, school clinics, intiatives like the new arrivals program, mother/daughter clinics etc), and
some clubs involved in the Amateurs maintained they didn't want to pay that much, or that they weren't actually seeing the benefits.
So the same old, same old.
Unfortunate as it cuts off a lot of pathways for girls playing e&d and amateurs, but I suppose if you're just playing for fun and not looking to go anywhere, 50 odd dollars a season looks a lot more attractive than a couple of hundred!
But still sad to see the sport getting splintered just as it's starting to take off and get a voice!
My advice would be if you are a girl/woman playing in teams that are looking to move to amateurs, and you actually want to get somewhere in the sport, move to a fed club ASAP, especially as most are having or have already had trials.
If you're just playing for fun however, good luck to you, and i'm sure we'll all welcome you back when (IF) everything gets sorted between FFSA and Amateurs!
And we have picked up a bit at Para Hills, improved the squad in a number of key areas that we lacked depth and strength in last year! Can't say too much though, Russell likes to keep things close to his chest, but look out for the Knights this year! Especially when we come back with international experience!
