First time in 35 years the Brahma has won the league. Well done lads!

On another note, cheers to the Grove for knocking off 2nd spot team for the 2nd week in a row. Looks like that promotion spot is well in your reach now. Good luck for your last 3 games

congrats to bpbc and all the brahma boys
it wasn't so long ago that the club seemed to be really struggling
it can be a real tough grind for lower div clubs when things are not going well , no fun at all in fact
to stick it out and come thru for a league title is a top effort

Aye, Well done lads, We at the gullys were the same 3 year ago, hadn't won a league for about 30 year or so then went on to win 2 in a row and hopefully promotion this year, so well done lads.

Well done Brahma, you were the best team in the division and deserved to win it. Hopefully we'll meet again next year.
I'm very happy to have moved to West Ham, because I can play for a better team than Sheffield Wednesday.

well done boys well deserved, lets hope results go our way and we will see you in div 3 next season.
I look at the great Liverpool Team. I think they won about eight League
Championships, and four European Cups. Compared to them I have done nothing

Well done Brahma good luck in Div 3. I think the best thing you did to get this hapening was to appoint a coach that wanted to go somewhere, unlike one of your previous ones who has no idea how to coach on match days - initials NJ

thats a bit harsh... if those are the intials I think they are, then your wrong... I have been coached by him and was pretty much forced out of my last club by him, but I still think he is pretty damn good coach... but each to their own...

NJ - Good Trainer but can't COach

Post by Marco2 »

I think he is a great trainer, bur not a great coach. More specifically his training drills are very good and he has a great ability to get players fit. As for a coach though he lacks the ability to motivate and struggles in terms of tactics.
Whenever he has had success it has been more to do with having the right cattle as opposed to any great planning.
I think if he had this ability he would be coaching at a much higher level.

I have a similar impression of him... that said I have been part of the reserves side this year and not his A team (except bench warming...)

Based on the assumption he stays at ASC for the next few years will be the real test. As the competition gets stronger it will be a test on whether he has the ability to coach (as opposed to train) at this level.

As you guys are in Div 5, I think success has come primarily due to players, however these same players will need to step it up next season and a good training programme (i.e. fitness) alone will not be enough. I sincerely hope he does bring you guys success, but I wouldn't bank on it simply because when the chips are down I am not convinced (based on experience) that he is able to plan and plot new ways to win. Your stint in Div 3 is a glaring example of this. There were good players there but little game day preparation and direction.

Again ,this is why he isn't coaching Div 1 or 2, which is somehwat unfortunate as his ability to get players fit is second to none.

I understand what you are saying marco2, but I think also you need to have the cattle to understand and follow the gaffer... its a bit hard for coach to prepare when say maybe some of his players have a low opinion of the person...

I think ASC if not breeze through div.4, will at least gain promotion to div.3 first time of asking simply because of the way he prepares his players, who are more than up to div.4 standard. It will be interesting to see how they go in Div.3 though...

It always interesting to see how former players (im guessing that you are a former player, or at least an observer of his methods first hand) talk about coaches that have come and gone... but I find it strange that someone who is still involved with the gaffer would agree with you... I'm a former player and would't say I left on the best of circumstances but still retain my high opinions of him because its deserved, but again... each to their own...

Higher Div Test

Post by Marco2 »

Fair points. I guess time wil tell. I do agree that they should make it to Div 3 at some point, this will be the test though.

At this point players need definite structure and team rules, as opposed to just roll up on Sunday and win because you are better and fitter than them.

This is where my question mark is with him. I too think he is a great bloke, however he hasn't acheived the success he should have, either because a lack of planning and strucutre or self-discipline - perhaps a combo of both?

No doubt... you defintately can't just be fitter and better, you need structure and planning... when I was at ASC, I felt there was a good structure for players to adhere to but I can't really comment on his planning pre-match because I wasn't his assistant or whatever.

I agree that Div.3 will be the real test, as that is where the amateur divisions are started to be taken more seriosuly somewhat... I do wish the boys at ASC the best of luck, its a pretty good team assembled, I guess it was a pity that I didn't really fit in too well with the team, but they are prolly better for it and so am I.

You are dead right Marco2, NJ is a top bloke and has a farily good training program, but when it comes to game day he really didnt seem to have the 'fire in the belly'.

As for ASC, 2 years ago a fair few of the players who are there were wearing Brahma strips in Div 4, with NJ as the coach. 5th place was what they acheived. They also acheived the same thing last year with a new coach. Will be interesting to see how they go next year
