Hawkesy, going back before I lost the plot with the italians in-fighting. There are at least 2 poms in this thread, unless you are not really one after all :-)

No,I chose my team when they lost a Cup Final. The fact I was 8 and didn't know where Liverpool was may not be an excuse, but my history with the club proves I am no bandwagoner.

the only thing english about those 3 clubs are the location of their stadiums.

it is obvous if you took away the foreign involvement (players, coaches & investment) and you had to rely on the english element they'd be in the same position as the english national team.

Last year the same 3 English clubs in the semis

Now try and say your league is better!!

(I posted this for the mass hysteria and arguing it will cause)
Because the EPL has 4 clubs who constantly finish top 4, does that mean it is the best league?

You can pick how the top 4 will finish in the EPL before every season starts, you cann't do that in Italy.

No need to go on. None of us are going to listen to the shit that comes out of your mouth. fair enoiugh you might just be trying to stir shit, but there are so many stronzi who actually believe that the English game is the best one, its a complete joke.

simply vaffanculo

in any case I'd much rather watch a Serie B match than a CL match between 2 non-italian sides.

You guys (EPL Clubs) may better in the Champions League because you guys have more foreigners and don't focus on building players in your youth academy. All the Serie A clubs are more focused on building their own young bright talented stars. Your league has the advantage with foreigners but our league is more passionate with bigger supporter groups like the Ultras and besides our league has more goals scored than any other league every week.

seriously mate, you dont critisize a mans passion for a club. passion for something can not be judged, silly statement really. its like saying who is more passionate about their team, balotta for lazio or hawkesy for millwall, thats dumb. and you cant be serious to call your league better soley on the fact that your league scores more goals in a gameweek, that shows lack of defence quality. and to say that you cant predict a top 4 to finish in the serie a shows lack of consistency from the so called top sides not nessecerally depth quality in 20 teams.

my argument is not about corruption etc we all know that abramovich et al. are squeaky clean  it is based on the amount of foreign influence in your game, particularly at the larger clubs. apart from the location of their stadiums what is english about them? Un cazzo that's what

Real madrid dosprove the comment about buying always get success.

I support the CLUB not the players I honestly couldn't care if they are black, white, green or gay! Yes if they are all English its a bonus but winning (fairly) is more important to me than where they are from. Would you really all prefer lack of success and an all Italian team? If so, fair enough but I like winning.

It's not a silly statement, every Serie A fan I know has told me that. It was not just that our league is better defensively and technically. In the EPL it's just the top 4 clubs taking the piss. In the Serie A the lower clubs challenge and beat the bigger clubs as well.

I really do worry about schooling here in Aus.

EPL goals scored, 860 games played 660 = 1.30 goals per game
Serie A goals scored 793, games played 638 = 1.24 goals per game

it's about maintaining identity and a connection with where you are from. there is foreign investment to some degree in most clubs but amongst the bigger clubs in england there is nothing that remains of them apart from where they play that is solely english. they are bastard children of globalisation - franchises!

You talk about corruption, why don't you go read up on how Arsenal were allowed entry into the old English first division.

Corruption hasn't just happen in Italian football, but i guess you all think your precious English game is how do you say it 'squeaky clean'.
As for the top 4 comment, please say something that hasn't been said and shot down in this thread already
Well it's true, you go on about the EPL being the best league in the world & yet only 4 teams can win it every season.

Correct me if I'm wrong but since 1992 haven't only AC, Inter (once) Juve and Roma (twice ?) won Serie A?

love how you start at 1992

but NO Roma have only won 1, the other and better centenary scudetto was won by Lazio, Inter have 2 titles (1 from the courts, 1 on the park), Roma champions in 2001, the rest shared by Milan and Juve.

you sure about that because pre-1992 a number of different sides won Italian championships like Sampdoria, Napoli and Verona.

if your really want to see that there is no true big 4 dominance and small sides can reach great heights have a look at some past tables.

I love how he skips the fact that Arsenal were corrupt enough to gain entry into the first division, because doesn't that only happen in Italy?

That was one of the points i was trying to get across, Serie A have had many different teams finish in the top four over a long period of time.

i cant believe people dont rate pires come on hes a gun, hes won a world cup and a european cup with the national side, for a midfielder he scores a lot of goals!! dont get me wrong i appreciate serie a football alot more than epl but a good footballer is a good footballer, dont bag someone that brought some flair and culture to an otherwise ugly league.

i thought it was obvious italian football would struggle in ucl for the next couple of years, claciopoli has had a major effect on the league, give serie a some time to recover fully, then be weary

the English clubs may be dominating Champions League, but we are the Current World Champions. When was the last time England won a World Cup? 1966 I believe. You have a long way to catch up to Italy or Brazil. You better have a picture of 'The Hat' Capello on your walls at home and praise it because he is the best thing England has at the moment.

Agreed, the Calciopoli has heavily affected our league. Clubs like Juve, Milan, Lazio etc. are rebuilding their squads. I believe that Juve will be a powerhouse once again in the Serie A next season, they are looking to rebuild their ruins by signing some big players Amauri, Diego, Van Der Vaart to name a couple. Milan are restructuring there squad and are looking at some class players as well: Ronaldinho, Schweinsteiger, Lell, Alex Silva, Miguel Veloso, Ochoa, Gomes, Zambrotta, Berbatov.

Once those affected clubs rebuild they will start to challenge the English clubs in UEFA.
