CITY OF SALISBURY MAYORS PRESEASON CUP 2014

It will be the 6th year of the competition & it continues to be well supported by clubs, players & spectators. There again will be 8 teams participating from SAASL clubs that are based in the City of Salisbury council area including Parafield Gardens, Para Hills East, Para Hills West, Salisbury Florina, Salisbury Inter, Ingle Farm, Pontian Eagles & Adelaide Pumas who have joined us at short notice. The success of the competition is due to the high quality preseason games played in a well organised competition that builds stronger relationships with our neighbouring Amateur League clubs. Congratulations again to Salisbury Inter Soccer Club for winning the cup in 2013.

The dates for 2014 will be same as previous years being Sunday 9th, 16th & 23rd February for the preliminary rounds & Sunday 2nd March for the finals.

Participating clubs all get the opportunity to host the event on a rotation basis. The preliminary rounds & finals hosts for 2014 are yet to be determined. Further details & draw for the Mayors Cup will be posted following the meeting of clubs in December. Thanks again to the clubs for supporting the competiton & look forward to what will be an exciting preseason again in 2014.

Why at gardens do the A and B grade play basically at the same time, but at Florina they play one after the other?

At least B grade players can be seen by the A grade coach for at least half a game having the times at 1 and 3

Quite simply its comes down to facilities at Gardens there is only one set of changerooms however at Florina they can utilise two sets of changerooms (Florina/Inter) at the same venue so it makes sense to have the ko times as they are except when Florina & Inter play each other (same as last year).

Sorry to disappoint Jogger but Gardens will have 2 full sizes pitches marked out for preseason cup so start running.

For the insurance it is best to fill out the new team pads, available from the SAASL at $15 each

Insurance is already organised SAASL have the cup draw & will charge to your club $30/team each game same as every year. Make sure teamsheets are filled in can be old or new ones with all players & no need for rego numbers.

Pontian Eagles vs Para Hills East (A's 2pm KO & B's 1pm KO) - Easties have always enjoyed the Mayors Cup & use it to gain some momentum heading into the season proper & will look to get a good start against Pontian that will likely have a new look with Ivan Zafran back at the helm.

Salisbury Florina vs Salisbury Inter (A's 4pm KO & B's 2pm KO) - Florina with some new young signings will want to stamp there return to Div 1 against their neighbour Inter who will look to follow up with their winning of the cup last year.
