Modbury Vista
From Adelaide now
MODBURY Vista Soccer Club could be moved from its Wynn Vale base following reports Tea Tree Gully Council has fielded a multimillion-dollar bid for land at Richardson Reserve from European supermarket giant Kaufland.
The NorthEastern Weekly understands German retailer Kaufland has made the offer.
On its website, Kaufland says it has an “ambitious Australian investment and development program … (and is) always looking to purchase suitable and appropriate sites”.
It has more than 1230 stores across seven European countries and is conducting a feasibility study aimed at the Australian market.
Modbury Vista chairman Detlef Georg said the state of the pitch at Richardson Reserve had been an issue for years and members would be open to being relocated.
The NorthEastern Weekly reported in January the council had axed plans to build new female changerooms at the club following an independent engineer’s finding of “significant structural movement” at the building, which was constructed in 1990.
Inspections also revealed that leaking sewer pipes could be affecting the soil.
Mayor Kevin Knight said there were several issues with the club’s facilities but would not confirm that the council had received an offer from Kaufland.
“We’re looking for the best options for Modbury Vista for its long-term future,” he said.
“The pitches were unplayable last year.

“We’ve been told the current building at Richardson Reserve is not worth investing in. The building needs to be demolished, the carparks aren’t big enough.
“We did identify a location where you could fit multiple soccer pitches and we are considering all options in regards to that location. They’ve got room for one and a half pitches at the moment.
“We have to spend $6m now so we have to work out where is the best place to do that.”
A spokesman for Kaufland told the NorthEastern Weekly to “check back with us in a few weeks time”.
“We are currently not in a position to comment or make any detailed statements about our projects in South Australia,” he said.

Football Federation SA chief executive officer Michael Carter said no “formal discussions” had occurred about a possible sale of land.
A Tea Tree Gully council spokeswoman said it had no comment to make.

TBH I don't know too much about his history (hence why asking) but what were his results prior to Brahma? Brahma was a dream job with the talent on hand but that's not going to been seen at many clubs so was wondering if his coaching style was suited to a developing list?haywood djablowme wrote:On the topic of MV -

In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside - Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.

It makes you wonder what will happen- there are a lot of junior and senior players at Vista.Outlaw 2.0 wrote:Time to move back to Kelly Road perhaps??
The Vista juniors are in the E&D and not linked with the FFSA yet their seniors are - would the FFSA get involved with getting state/federal/local funding in relation to any potential big moves/projects here.

Re: Modbury Vista
Well, yes. Bulldozers almost at the ready down South Road way - we can at least sympathise with Vista's plight.
Relocation is a big job, plus interim measures to take into account.
Basically need all levels of government to be on board, plus FFSA and $$$ and most of all, patience! Just ask West Adelaide.

Vista Juniors are linked with FFSA JPL but they have E&D instead of JSL.

Either Burragah or the Valley View High school site would provide three full size pitched as well as extra area for training. A clubroom would be all that needs to be built if a move goes ahead.Mr Red wrote:It makes you wonder what will happen- there are a lot of junior and senior players at Vista.Outlaw 2.0 wrote:Time to move back to Kelly Road perhaps??

Re: Modbury Vista
Steady and strong development at junior level but seniors at both fed and amateur is not really pulling up trees.
Good luck to Mogg - he’s got a big job on his hands there with limited resources - not the players fault but very difficult when there are no funds to attract and maintain some talent to back up the young learning players they do/did have.

Re: Modbury Vista
It might be more a case of developing a culture first - get some players with heart and soul and if Ryan can nurture that, then slowly other players will be attracted to the club.Old Redback wrote:Steady and strong development at junior level but seniors at both fed and amateur is not really pulling up trees.

The club needs to cut some slack and allow time to develop this and then progression will become natural.
Work hard with the kids, give them a chance and have a 3-5 year plan.
Big job, but Moggy can do it.

But there isn't enough room for both clubs to play at Burragah?

According to FFSA, they still do.
Re: Modbury Vista
shame that some money can't be invested into Richardson Reserve - we all know the surface is shite but can be rectified. building may well need to be bulldozed, but if they give up this land for a friggin supermarket (which there are PLENTY of nearby) it's a disgrace.
