I'm sure there's plenty of sayings around the world, that when translated literally mean something completely different to their intended meaning.
If you said "break a leg" to someone in a literal translation, they'd be mortified.

+1
I believe "women should STFU in public" loosely translates to "to succeed in the face of adversity"

The German's joke is still a bit milder than the quail menu/joke "Small breasts, huge thighs, big red box.."

The owner of the restaurant where the event was held has claimed responsibility for the menu, saying it was an in joke that was not distributed and not meant for publication
Who was the owner of the restaurant? I don't know too many restaurant owners in the public eye.

Why is the focus on this line, and not on the Rudd is a goose ?
Shame how 2 bad jokes on the same page can have completely different reactions.

Is the bloke who has admitted responsibility in the public eye?
Yep. He is now - front page of the National newspaper. And casting doubt on the political spin and deflection.

You can read the Queen's English, GMAE. It's on the front page of the daily NATIONAL newspaper.
Reminder: It's infamous Mal Brough's mate, Joe Richards, the host of the $1000-a-plate fundraiser featuring jovial Joe Hockey..

That was the guy who threw children overboard wasn't it?
A signature has the effect of "signing off" the message indicating that no more response follows. It is common practice for a signature to contain some brief information on the author of the message, but not in this case.

Maybe so, but he's admitted the blame and clearly is not in the public eye.

How you can say he's not in the public eye when he was on the front page is just mystifying.
Now if only you'd said that he hadn't previously been in the public eye you'd have been correct.
