The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

Have not posted on the girls website since my attempt at coaching prems a couple of years ago , girls competition looks a bit of a shambles as usual , will it ever change ?, where are all of the reserve teams? 15-0 in a game , the whole of womens soccer needs a major overhaul , it would be best dealt with by the clubs as the ffsa have lost touch with the reality of what is happening out there , every year , it is getting worse , have that many players dropped off the radar or am I missing something.

Re: Adelaide Airport Womens Premier league results round 4
Yes Yes Yes. Why did you run away?>
Not sure if clubs have the energy or capacity (and know how) on what needs to be done. Frankly the game is no where near where it was once (5-6 years ago). Since then its dying. Interest in the game is dwindling. Women’s footy gets better air play and interest.
You’ve been away from the women’s comp since you ran away (like many others before you). Nothing has altered other than re-arranging deckchairs on the titanic.
Since then Ad Uni (former lower div team) has recruited well and ended up in the Prems. Basically recycling the same players. Good players are still going well. Newer players are ok.
Olympic was up there a few years back. Then coaches and players leave (as is usually the case) and it folded. Back in a lower div though.
I think in 5 years time (generous) there will be less teams and the ones that survive will play in a glorified Div 1 comp rebadged as Prems.

Season has just started with 18 rounds to go, so lots could still change.
Wouldnt be discounting any teams just yet.

15-0 and 8-1 results in a Prem League - what a quality league it must be to play in

was it the premier league or the reserve league??
Re: Adelaide Airport Womens Premier league results round 4
Both those scores are from the reserve league.

Can't believe how many negative twits there are on here (terminator) !!!! Everyone happy to run their mouth, very few who actually make a positive contribution to change things
Re: Adelaide Airport Womens Premier league results round 4
15-0 is detrimental to the game. The types of people playing in reserves are either aspiring to play prems, but are too young or they are just there for fun.
This type of result will result in players leaving the game. No one wants to get beaten 15-0. Metro should have had some perspective and not gone for such a ridiculous score line.

Is the U17 league one that will develop players for future Premier and Reserve leagues?Gazelle wrote:15-0 is detrimental to the game. The types of people playing in reserves are either aspiring to play prems, but are too young or they are just there for fun.

Junior development at our club (Croydon Kings) centers on 'games, games, games'. Players learn by playing, they get better with the more games they play.
So why is the Womens U17 league only playing 14 games?
Women's football administration does my head in.

interesting 'perspective' on who to blame in this situation.Gazelle wrote:15-0 is detrimental to the game. The types of people playing in reserves are either aspiring to play prems, but are too young or they are just there for fun.

Metro Reserves went into the game dead last on the table and I seriously doubt they were planning a 15 nil victory.
Perhaps rather than questioning Metro's approach to the game, more insight into why Cumberland were forced to push up their u/17's to the Reserves (when clearly they weren't ready), should take up more of your focus.
It seems players were leaving cumberland in droves before this result, so this game was merely a sympton, not the cause.
By the way, if your playing 'just for fun', then the social leagues are the perfect outlet, not the Reserves. Perhaps 'playing for fun' contributed to the scoreline which troubles you so much???

Poor SMWSC
Not the best game to be without your captain, plus a couple of other notables..

SA - Ever wonder why most people play in this state? There is no feasible career for female soccer players, so why are there so many out there playing? Because they love the game and have fun playing.
Don't be confused, if players are playing for fun, it doesn't mean that they don't have the capability of playing in reserves and prems. Or would you automatically condemn all players out there for the fun of it to the social leagues? That seems like a good idea...

Reserves are designed to be a feeder system to the prems. Whilst the women's game is not professional here, I have an old fashioned view that those few times you train and then play, you will bring a serious approach at that level and treat it more than a 'fun' kick in the park.Gazelle wrote:SA - Ever wonder why most people play in this state? If u want to 'play for fun', no problems, but don't blame the opposition or state its the reason why players leave the game when its clearly evident that the result last week wasnt the cause of cumberlands player retention issues but a strong symptom of other issues.
