It's disgusting, FFSA it's time to listen to the clubs and help them instead of worrying ONLY about state teams and W League (and for the record you are not even doing that well). Cumby is in great difficulty, Toros and Flinders gone, Olympic gone. Shame shame shame! You are supposed to LEAD the game, not killing it. Is there a person responsible for the growth of women's soccer? No? APPOINT ONE! Yes? Send her/him HOME!
Re: Flinders Gone
Flinders didnt want to be in prems anyway... Its not good that another club has gone from Prems, but chances are a lot of the girls would have walked away from the club and gone elsewhere to play at a lower division anyways.
Its not all about the FFSA.

Maybe FFSA should let the Lady Reds go (which is obviously a large financial drain) so they concentrate on some stability in the Prem league.
Where should they start re helping out say Cumby? (using them as apparently theyre in need atm)

Its not all about the FFSA.
They gave it a shot last year, and it didn't work out for them. They don't have juniors, have a high turnover of players year to year, and are in an area where they have to compete with two other comparitively strong clubs (SM and Cumby). They were never going to be an elite club really (and I don't mean that disrespectfully).

Re: Flinders Gone
FFSA is being very supportive to Cumberland as are the other prems clubs. The club is very well positioned in terms of coaching staff and grounds. If any players are looking for a spot they should consider it. Cumberland's situation is in no way FFSA's fault and it is temporary.
I looked back on the Toros thread and didn't see anyone, including those involved with the club, try to blame FFSA for that. Interesting.
Flinders is a unique club and has an amazing future as a top destination for senior players in the social divisions- they did the comp a favour last year and should be appreciated for that effort because it was an effort for them.

Re: Flinders Gone
you say that they didnt get screwed over, but when they were last in the prems league they were only given one season when all other teams got 2 seasons to prove themselves all the FFSA have done is NOTHING to support the womans game , as I have said before if this average people would be working for a firm they would be sacked , PLS GIVE IT AWAY THE CARTER PEOPLE AND GET SOME FRESH FACES THAT CARE ABOUT THE WOMANS GAME YOU BUNCH OF

Re: Flinders Gone
Sturt had some 50 players turning up to pre season, apparently because of their coach's connections with FFSA. Not sure how many, but I know for a fact that some of the ones who were in last year's FFSA U16 squad were "encouraged" by DE and another FFSA coach to go to Sturt this year as it was going to be the "best place for them". Some were also told to go to Fulham (is this a coincidence?) but don't think anyone did. These players were originally from other clubs... 15-20 of those who turned up at Sturt have now been cut. I guess players like these would play for Toros or other clubs (Olympic?) but what are they going to do now? Those clubs don't have teams any more. I think it's a disgrace that state officials interfere with clubs, how can this be possible?
I won't name names, but I am 100% sure of what I am saying and I know many other ppl know too. That's how FFSA "screwed over" some ppl and helped others, sorry but it's a fact.

Re: Flinders Gone
Maybe you are right, Lady Reds are just causing a lot of problems and make SA look like cabernet...Everybody's attention is just on the state teams and lady reds but most players in SA play for their clubs and it's unfair to put all the energy on something that they don't even know how to run...paul merson wrote:Maybe FFSA should let the Lady Reds go (which is obviously a large financial drain) so they concentrate on some stability in the Prem league.

The counter argument would be that without the Lady reds there's no pathway I guess...It's a hard call and unfortunately the ppl that have to deal with this are total incompetent.
It's amazing talking to players out there and how everyone (except some who made the lady reds but not even all of them) has no respect whatsoever for how FFSA runs football. I totally agree with theones saying that in any other business heads would be rolling, can anyone explain why this has to be different with FFSA?

If this is true, then its an absolute disgrace, especially when clubs are folding. It would have been the last nail in the coffin for those clubs who folded or who are currently struggling, if their players were 'encouraged' to move elsewhere or prospective players were 'encouraged' not to go there.Easy Tiger wrote:Sturt had some 50 players turning up to pre season, apparently because of their coach's connections with FFSA. Re: Flinders Gone
It's true sn, not so much "club" players encouraged to move but FFSA squad players, but in the end it's the same thing because they could have gone to one of these clubs but all felt it was best to go to Sturt. This is because some were told so and others followed to stay with their friends. Not all were told to go there obviously, but some yes.snow white wrote:If this is true, then its an absolute disgrace, especially when clubs are folding. Easy tiger, ffsa assured the clubs, when the u15 prem side was established, that those players selected would be 'strongly encouraged' to return to their home clubs.
If what you are saying is correct, then we have high ranking ffsa officials, who obviously carry alot of influence with these players and parents, actively and deliberately encouraging players to move to clubs that have ffsa coaches.
This constitutes a breach of interest, let alone a conflict of interest.
Makes you wonder why the rest of the clubs even bother ... It just gets worse.

Re: Flinders Gone
Let's be clear about how many players we're talking about with regards to Sturt, and what their circumstances are- To my knowledge there are five girls at Sturt who played on the U15 side last year. One of those came from Sturt and returned there. Two were at Adelaide HIlls previously, so they have no prems side to go back to, or possibly any senior side at all at the club, so they had to go somewhere (not to mention that Sturt makes geographical sense for them). Only two went to Sturt from Prems clubs that they could have gone back to. So two prems clubs are down one (very young) player each. Hardly a huge number.
As for the point about FFSA officials encouraging players to go there- I think we're talking possibly about a coach (who coached one state side and is not employed by FFSA full time) who made inquiries. And coaches from other clubs do that all the time.
someone will blast me for saying it, but this seems like a tempest in a teacup to me.

The original allegation has DE 'directing' players to sturt. Are you aware of any such 'directions' by DE or any other ffsa employee to sturt as you seem to be in the know.juniorsupporter wrote:Let's be clear about how many players we're talking about with regards to Sturt, and what their circumstances are- To my knowledge there are five girls at Sturt who played on the U15 side last year. Re: Flinders Gone
No. In my daughter's case, we had an inquiry from TB about her plans for this year. That was as far as it went, all he did was ask what she was planning to do, and he was informed that her plans didn't include Sturt- it ended there. There was absolutely no input or direction from anyone at FFSA, including DE, about where she should or shouldn't play. I am also not aware that any of the other girls were directed in any way.
One thing I will add is that the girls who played on that squad last year all wanted to play prems again this year and some made their decision based on where they thought they would get a game at Prems level, not wanting to go back to playing reserves. That also seems reasonable to me- there was perhaps more opportunity at Sturt and the perception that it is a club on the rise.
As far as I am aware, all told there are only four players (out of 19 total) who had clubs to go back to who moved- all the other players who are new to teams this year had to go somewhere because they couldn't go back to where they had been before: two had played for Olympic, three for HIlls, there was one from Mt. Gambier, another was from a club without senior teams at all. Seven of the girls went back to the clubs they came from.

This didn't actually happened to me directly and I did not actually hear it when it happened so I can't tell you YES FOR SURE 100%. It would also be unfair because if I say more too many ppl would know the girls involved and they just wanted to go on with their football. But I know it's true and it happened more than once. Every year it's a different club but it always happens.snow white wrote:The original allegation has DE 'directing' players to sturt. I have no issue with coaches or anyone approaching a player out of season about playing prospects. It's always been part of our game and impossible to police.
I do have issue with ffsa officials 'influencing' players to go to one club or another.

Easy tiger, I guess my point was that in my daughter's case, no FFSA official tried to influence her decision. I can only be sure of her experience.
Recruiting by parents and coaches does go on, but in this case with the u15 side from last year, based on the evidence cited above, it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference.

Re: Flinders Gone
This is a key point. If the girls wanted to keep playing prems, but weren't confident in making the team at their home club, why shouldn't they try out at a club that might have more spots in their prems team.juniorsupporter wrote: One thing I will add is that the girls who played on that squad last year all wanted to play prems again this year and some made their decision based on where they thought they would get a game at Prems level, not wanting to go back to playing reserves. It also doesn't suprise me that they might go to Sturt, which has a bit more history and had some past success in womens football, instead of Toros.

no different to when Wendy Carter was coaching at Metro, people employed at FFSA should not be coaching at clubs, its called a conflict of interest

State, and Development Coaches come under that category too.
Re: Flinders Gone
I think this is a tricky one.
Clubs must be free to approach players and recruit but there should be some processes in place to prevent situations like we have seen in the last few years very regularly.
First of all, it's an absolute joke that state/ffsa coaches coach at clubs. It may be ok for STIC but not for other teams. TB should not coach Sturt if he coaches for FFSA, GH should not coach Fulham, JB Para Hills and so on. Nothing against the blokes but it's unfair for other clubs as young girls will think that they have better options to "make it" if they are "connected" to a FFSA coach, even if this may be not at all true. Parents will still believe that they are better coaches because they work for FFSA or that having their daughters there they will be seen...If you don't see this, then you are blind. You can't come and say "He's doing it in its own time...", that's total shiraz.
Second, there has to be a way to regulate transfers, even if there's no money involved. Clubs could pre-register up to xx players and not recruit any more unless they free up some of the existing ones, or maybe FFSA could be a regulatory body where clubs have to declare what/how many players they have and info is freely accessible for other clubs etc. There are so called professional MANAGERS working for FFSA, what are they good for? They either start to get things right or they have to go home. It's a disgrace that the same old people run this game that they are destroying and there are no actions. The message is: FFSA don't care, they are happy with incompetence.
Third, there has to be more club consultation as this is something that affects everybody at one point or another and it's causing a lot of issues with clubs folding etc. For example, last year Olympic were not aware that all their players were moving on and could not make any plans for that. This is ridiculous, clubs disappear because FFSA cannot MANAGE the game.
Last, it's about time to stop seeing double standards and favouritisms. Why were Sturt allowed to have a team in the Prems last year with no reserves and now Olympic, Toros and Flinders don't get any help? Is it because of their "connection" with FFSA people? Hopefully not, but that's what people see and say. Where is the clarity? Where is the consultation? Olympic would do a great deal of good to the comp, but maybe they are not "yes people", "doormats" etc. and FFSA don't think it's worth helping them? Why this year the same "emergency measures" that were good last year are no longer good?
Before FFSA think about the W League they should really think about their own problems, the extreme lack of credibility that they have among clubs and ppl involved with women's football for example. Just out of curiosity, how much money is contributed by women's clubs every year to FFSA and are the clubs happy with how that money is spent? What do they get back? Is this ever been asked to clubs in a formal consultation process? Is the famous idea of an external inquiry being advanced?
PPL have to respect those who work for FFSA as they are probably trying to do their job, but FFSA have to earn some respect by doing something right. Clubs are more important than state, unless you make 10 state teams and have an ongoing comp among them. My impression is that they only care about money and profile.

Please explain to me what good Olympic will do to the Premier League? Do they have a group of players not currently playing in the premier league who will suddenly improve the standard? Or will they simply re-poach players at another premier league team???Bad Egg wrote:I think this is a tricky one.

If they did not know that their players were leaving last year, how is that FFSA's fault? Everyone knew they were leaving, if Olympic didn't they must have been blind... No one turned up at their trials or pre season and all of their players were training with another club.. FFSA would only have officially known when players are registered at their new club. It suggests the club was not that well organised or effective in retaining / recruiting players..
Players left Olympic because they chose to due to issues with the club, coaches etc. NOT because of something FFSA did!
As a player I wish clubs would stop blaming FFSA and worry about improving their own environment instead of constantly looking to shift the blame! FFSA is far from perfect but it does not cause Players to leave Olympic or Flinders to withdraw from the Prems. As for coaches, wow if TB and GH weren't coaching in the Prem, who on earth would be... The womens game has terrible coaches at the moment and if you took out the FFSA employed ones it would be even worse! I for one am glad to see Sharon Black coaching for FFSA but I would also like to see her involved in premier league coaching, I would play for her club if she was coaching!
We have lost DE who was a passionate UEFA A Licence coach already and I have not heard of any talk of a replacement, outside of local coaches, none of whom have the required accreditation, we need to stop blaming FFSA and put our own s**t in order and by we, I mean PLAYERS, COACHES, MANAGERS, CLUBS and FFSA.
Stop blaming each other and look in the mirror before looking outside for someone to blame...
Just my opinion and I'm sure an appropriately named 'bad egg' or 'sad gal' or 'axe to grind' or 'carter hater' will jump on here to ridicule me and suggest I'm DE in disguise or FFSA in disguise but until EVERYONE stands up to be counted SA women's football will simply get worse!

QQ and JS, you have opinions and that's good for you. I have mine.
You won't convince me but I won't sit here giving you obvious explanations which you would probably not understand/be willing to understand. So far, facts show that things are not as great as you think, but I understand (from your posts) that since you are the mother of an "elite" player and an "elite" player your opinion may be suited to fit your purposes. Just like FFSA's actions are suited to keep their jobs rather than looking honestly at women's football.

Re: Flinders Gone
wheres the structure?
the planning?
the communication?
the clarity?
we just clutch at straws every year and it never works.
there needs to be a hiatus and some serious planning to grow the game. zoning needs to be introduced. senior clubs only have two teams max + u/18s (like the men). why have 4 or 5? have these players move to new clubs and help the game grow. clubs should only have one junior team per age group. why have a 15cs when they could be playing 15as for a club that doesn't even have a junior team.
there are people involved in the game that are well educated, completed studies in event management, sport and rec, that are willing to give something to the game but don't get the chance. all resources should be utilized, to help grow the game and make it more appealing.

Re: Flinders Gone
Lol at QQ still defending DE after rubbishing the talk he was abandoning the lady reds to jump ship to an arch rival even though I was made aware of the 'rumour' at least 3-4 months ago. Big deal he had a piece of paper saying he was qualified. The lady reds were used as a springboard to advance his coaching credentials. Would not have even been six months into the job before he was looking to bail. Two wooden spoons, most goals ever conceded in a season and worst ever goal difference and what is left?Bad Egg wrote:QQ and JS, you have opinions and that's good for you. I have mine.

And fancy blaming those who run the game for the current crisis?? What a shocking connection. Lets blame the volunteers and the tuck shop lady, the dad running the line etc, etc.
When accountability is applied to those who run the game, I might actually look in the mirror as QQ implies.
