I read in the papers the other day that there is a rumour that Mourinho & Ronaldo were being lured to ManUre to replace Sir Alex when he finally retires.

It would be a big mistake as M can only get success these days with an open cheque book and Ronaldo wouldn't be able to rediscover his former glory at Old Trafford.

I believe the best choice to take over from Sir A is the former Barca manager Pep Guardiolo (excuse spelling I've got a mental block).

He would need to be given a three year grace period where all he had to do was keep them in the EPL to enable him to completely restructure the club and build a carbon copy of Barca at Old Trafford.

Then ManUre will be set for another period of dominance in the EPL and Europe.

I read an article a while ago dicussing Jose going to Old Trafford. He would have the personality to back up what Fergie has done. Although I hear that Fergie won't completely step down once he stops coaching outright, and I can't see someone like Jose or Pep being happy to have Fergie round still telling them how things should be done. I get the feeling it would be someone Fergie has brought through the Man Utd ranks that he feels understands the club and the direction its heading. Giggs, Scholes and Solskjaer are all doing or done their coaching badges.

I think it'd have to be Ole if he's going to pick an ex-player. The guy is managing already, and a much safer bet than any of his other players.

If Ole is anywhere near as smart a coach as he was a player, he's going to be the replacement united fans will love.
