Re: SOCCEROO SPIRIT
For last game I would say bollocks. IMO unless Cahill jagged another header a penalty was the only way we were going to equalise. IMO Australia needs to be far more conserned with being good at things that are actually measureable. The side with the most spirit is like a restaurant saying its the most amazing in town. If I was looking to go out to dinner I would probably go to the most awarded if I didn't know where to go. I think we need to be more conserned with how many chances we are creating per game, where those chances are coming from and how many our side is taking. The fact of the matter is purely spirited sides don't win World Cups, leagues or trophies. Skillfull, fit and well drilled sides do, sides that take the chances when they are given to them do. Skillfull, fit, well drilled and taking their chances are not terms that come to mind when I consider pass Socceroo performances, or junior Australian sides either for that matter. We have a long way to go.dudley wrote:Fact or just Bolloxs ????

Re: SOCCEROO SPIRIT
They have no more spirit than any other country. At the moment Australia, at an international level, is in the doledrums. You are not sure if your style of play is Brazilian, Dutch, English or whatever the flavour of the month is. You need to develope your OWN style of play & stick to it.

Re: SOCCEROO SPIRIT
if spirit means they fought gamely & never gave up, they certainly showed that.
as for style, skill & quality , we are not in Japan's league.

guus said in 2006 no team down after 83 minutes would of came back and won 3 1.
guess we rise against the odds sometimes!!

Re: SOCCEROO SPIRIT
But would you say more then anyother side? I guess that is what shows real spirit. IMO it wouldn't be anymore then anyother side. Every club or country comes back to win occasionally. Probably because we did it in the WC once makes us a little more obvious?dudley wrote:guus said in 2006 no team down after 83 minutes would of came back and won 3 1.

Only coz we had Guus. Would not have done same with Cranky Franky, Arnie or Pim.dudley wrote:guus said in 2006 no team down after 83 minutes would of came back and won 3 1.
