CL QF DRAW

Post by Blue Mastiff »

With 2 games to go in the CL round of 16

Should teams be seeded for the QF Draw of BEST AGG??
If drawn Agg such as AC & Benifica (4-3) then go by HOME RESULT??

Thoughts??????????????????????????

Chelsea v Napoli (agg 1 - 3) Wed 14 Mar
Real Madrid v CSKA Moscow (agg 1 - 1) Wed 14 Mar

Bayern Munich (agg 7 - 1)
Marseille (agg 2 - 2)
Apoel Nicosia (agg 1 - 1)
Barcelona (agg 10 - 2)
AC Milan (agg 4 - 3)
Benfica (agg 4 - 3)

I understand its a Cup Comp but Real knowing that they win by diff of 2 goals they will avoid Barca and Bayern

and if Napoli draw to Chelsea they will avoid Barca, Bayern, Real?
FOOTBALL IS A FOREIGN GAME FOR HOOLIGANS & DRUNKEN PSYCHO-FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!

It works fine with the random draw from here on in, group leaders get seeded and that should be it

I don't mind having seedings for the initial group stages but, once you're through to the knock out stages it should be just names in a hat. If ManU draw Barca first out, tough luck. That's the nature of proper cup competitions.

Exactly, seed the initial group stage, then for the first knockout stage the group winners are in one pot, runners up in the other, from then on its a free for all

I would agree if Man Utd were good enough to get that far.

It's a shame they weren't
How far did liverpool make it in this year's CL, or last year?
Or indeed, the year before?

8 teams from 7 different countries.

Alot better than 4 from england, 2 from Spain, 1 from Germany and 1 from Italy as usual!

Exactly, it's like the way it should be, it's just a shame that it's not the Champions from each country like the good old days!

Maybe because they are the most successful side in Europe to come from England?

Not Rigged much

Quarter-finals [27 and 28 March, 3 and 4 April]

Apoel Nicosia v Real Madrid

Marseille v Bayern Munich

Benfica v Chelsea

Milan v Barcelona

Semi-finals [17 and 18 April, 24 and 25 April]

Apoel Nicosia or Real Madrid v Marseille or Bayern Munich

Benfica or Chelsea v Milan or Barcelona

I think Mastiff has a point, All best AGG teams seeded and playing 2nd Leg at Home!!

Very convenient indeed

Semi-finals

Real Madrid v Bayern Munich
Chelsea v Barcelona

Final

Real Madrid v Barcelona

el Clasico to take place on the grandest stage of them all (for clubs anyway  ) and Barca to add yet another trophy to their ever expanding cabinet

Impossible to call who will win - I bet none of the would be tipsters would have predicted the Manchester exit so soon.

Well Well look how its all panned out!!
Strange also how Bayern, Real, Barca and Chelsea played their 2nd Legs at HOME also in the Round of 16.
You couldnt get it much more set up then this.
Chelsea or Milan had to draw one of the 3 favourites.
At the end of the day ManU getting knocked out in the group phase, Napoli getting knocked out in the R16, Marseille getting knocked out in the QF, Chelsea getting knocked out in the Semis or Real Madrid losing in the Final unless you WIN the thing your only a number at the end of the day.
