At the end of the day, Van Marwijk had to coach to the players at his disposal. Foster kept crapping on all tournament about how Holland dont play total football like they SHOULD. Says who???

Van Marwijk did very well and I wouldnt have complained if Holland had won, however, Spain were the best team from tactical and footballing perspective over the month. Its no fluke that they won their last 4 games by 1-0 margins, which shows, if you defend well, you give yourself the best chance to win. I cant handle hearing people complaining about teams sitting back - if you dont have the ability, what else are you meant to do?

It seems to me that if you win a world cup...or a european championship...over the 7 or 6 games...you're probably going to get a lucky call that goes your way...and because of that people try and diminish what the team has won...even the greatest sides in history luck out now and then (think Chelsea v Barca).

Spain were definitely deserved winners. They played better than everybody else. Spains style of soccer looks sissified and boring and too methodical but therein lies its potency. It's like that funny fight in high school where the big guy gets knocked out by the quiet ajebutter guy.
