Halfway point/Sat div.2

Post by onthemound »

We are now at the halfway mark of the season. Hows your team travelling? What are your predictions for the end of the season? Who's going to get promoted? Who's getting relegated? Going by the current table there seems to be 2 groups forming - the top 5 and the bottom 5.
I think Iggies have been the standout team so far and are my favourites to win the title although I think Comets will push them all the way. Unless FC Adel can turn things around, relegation looks certain for them. Cougars, Sthn Breakers, Gleeson & Budapest will fight it out the other relegation spot.
My prediction for the end of season table is as follows
Iggies
Comets

All Stars
Navarino
Hawks
Gleeson
Sthn Breakers
Budapest
Cougars
FC Adel

I agree, Iggies are in a good position to win the league considering they are 6pts above Comets and have a superior goal difference to any other team. For the rest of us I don't know. Still a lot of soccer to be played and a lot of points to be won.

Still a long way to go in Division 2A. Allstars United certainly gave us a wake-up call. Their 5-0 thumping of BOSNA the week before was no fluke. Our goal difference is realistically like another 'point' in the chase for the title. Hopefully Comets, MA Hawks, and Allstars can take plenty of points off of each other.

The bottom end of the table is quite interesting too. FC Adelaide were one of the tougher games that our As played, yet they are bottom. Only two points separate 6th-placed Budapest (who were also an extremely difficult opponent) and 9th-placed Cougars.

There are no easy games in this division.

The title is Old Ignatians' to lose. They haven't set a foot wrong all season.

Comets and AllStars will be favourites for the other promotion spot. Is Kon Antoniou still at Comets?

Dont write off the Hawks, very good defensively.

In regards to relegation, who knows? FC Adelaide are much better than what their position says, as are the Cougars. Breakers will always be a tough proposition at home, Budapest will always be dangerous with Popovic.
