To celebrate Adelaide United's entry into the 2010 Asian Champions League the Red Army AUSG is releasing an extremely Limited Edition ACL Scarf.
Pre-Order is now available through the online store and prices are $40ea for Red Members and $55ea for Non-Members, quantities are limited to 2 per person.
If you aren't a Red Member, take advantage of our $60 ACL Promo, buy a Red Membership for $20 and pre-order the Limited Edition Scarf for the Red Member price of $40!
The last ACL scarves were sold for $40 - considering how quickly those went the price would increased to meet the demand (the group protecting its members and recruiting a few more by keeping prices low for members)
Members price doesnt add a lot to the manafacture price and anyone with a current United Till I Die scarf or the original run champions league GF ones will know they are of superb quality.
If you dont want to pay the money for them, then unlucky.
As for paying full price over being a Red Army member, id like to hear why you think so. Im sure the groups changed a lot from whaatever your thinking it is.
If you ask me $40 is at least $20-$25 over priced. I'm not a member so $55 is just ridiculous for a scarf. I don't care about supply & demand & that kind of stuff. Doesn't matter which way you look at it, it's a crazy price!
I think all of United's merchandise is over priced to be honest. I remember when I looked a getting a shirt & it was $130. Why would I pay $130 for a replica home shirt when I could buy a Barca or a Man Utd shirt for the same price, direct from the country with all the badges, a name & number on the back & delivered?
It just doesn't make any sense. A shirt from our own city's football team should be at least half the price of that from one in Europe's elite leagues.

Well I'm sorry to inform you but there is thing thing called a cost price. To make the scarves, we pay a price to the manafacturer for the goods. Now i wont disclose what we are paying - but even cutting the cost by $20 we would be making a significant Loss (Over $5 per item Sold). The group has to cut a small profit on these to ensure we can keep making banners and this and that to support the team. We cant keep putting in money from our own pockets.
As for the Non-Members Price, its an incentive for people to join our group. This also rewards our current members. If you dont like the Price, then dont buy it. We are providing the service for those that want it.
As for the club shirts - you obviously dont do much shopping around. You can pick up AU shirts for $80 if you look in the right places. And the Euro shirts of your favourite clubs - thats because they have MASSIVE production runs, so the price drops significantly. If AU wanted to make 500,000 shirts per year then you'd find they would be a lot cheaper.
I also don't understand why the flag is flipped on the right hand side, now it's not a flag, just a bunch of stars with a union jack. If you're going to flip it, do it both horizontally and vertically, so it still holds the positioning of a flag the right way around.

You say you wont disclose how much your paying your manufacturer for the goods, then in your very next sentence you tell us approximately how much your paying them.
Sorry but its gonna take more than an overpriced scarf to get people to join your group... Alot more.

You think? For that crap looking scarf quite the opposite actually....
The fact of the matter is, whoever designed it obviously didnt put much time and effort into it.... As already ready mentioned, The font, the flags etc, It just looks like a complete hack job.
If braindead Red Army folk are happy to pay that much for it, more power to them. I just dont think you'll get non members cueing up to join your 'Red Army' to get it cheaper, or pay the full $55 for it....

Its a lot more than what you think. I gave a rough figure to give you a rough indication of how much we'd be losing.
And the scarf isnt the only reason people would be joining the group - its an added incentive.
Look if you dont like it, then dont buy it.
As for being a hack job - i like it. Its a scarf not a mural. name a scarf that has insane amounts of detail and that wont blow out the price to hundreds of dollars (seeing as your not prepared to pay $40 for it).
You should have got an Adelaide company to make the scarves, maybe you have chosen a Victory supporter to quote you.
I can understand you need to cover costs, but to expect too many to spend $55 on a scarf is ridiculous, I sell scarves at $25, some tell me that is too much!!
