Sydney-Adelaide 6-0
From the United website:
Adelaide United FC’s Women’s Team has crashed to its fourth straight defeat after suffering a 6-nil loss to Sydney FC Women at the Sydney Football Stadium in Round 5 of the Westfield W-League.
There was little to cheer about on a dark day for the Lady Reds, the result equalling the team’s worst ever result after it was also on the wrong end of a similar score line against the Central Coast Mariners last season.
A 5th minute Alesha Clifford goal before a double from Sarah Walsh gave the home side a 3-nil lead at the break and despite United’s best efforts, Sydney found the back of the net another three times in the second half to run away with the comprehensive victory.
As they have in all four of their previous encounters, United’s Women fought on valiantly, but up against a far more experienced Sydney FC outfit, the Lady Reds were simply outclassed.
Adelaide United Women will now need to regroup ahead of their next match which is away against fellow Westfield W-League strugglers the Newcastle Jets on Saturday 7 November 2009 at the Wanderers.
Match Details
Sydney FC Women 6 (Clifford 5’, Walsh 22’/29’, Khamis 59’, Carney 73’, Cannuli 83’)
Adelaide United Women 0
Sydney Football Stadium
Referee: Kiralee Gardener
Sounds like a bit of a rough day...but we all know Sydney are stronger. Nothing too new here.
Still no goals though.
Hope the players keep up their head, not easy after a trashing, but they must do so.
With Newcastle they may actually have a chance.

Re: Sydney-Adelaide 6-0
Having to get up at 4am for a early morning flight to Sydney is not the ideal match day preparation, but hopefully they will get a much better result than last week. Good luck girls.
Re: Sydney-Adelaide 6-0
Ok....Its year two of the comp...and Adelaide are still struggling to put together a consistent effort and stable line up that is competitive.
What is going on? Again its a team that has some good talent however, they are struggling to play a team game. A few cameos from some players but not a consistent effort. Granted the early rise is a problem however, what about the home games?

With this heat I think I shall be watching it on tv, but feel free to make yourself heard.

will try our best!
the heat will make it hard to get a decent turnout. Hopefully for the next home game vs Sydney its cooler so more people can come along for the Lady Reds last home game of the season.

I don't think anyone has blamed the heat for that. Above posts just suggest crowd turnout may be low because of it.SwandelPark wrote:I don't think you can justify getting flogged 6-0 on the early start.
