Great question. Don't know the answer though. My bet would be the Vale followed by the Downs and then West or Gardens.

Lion no longer in div 1 but I think they had been there for a considerable amount of time too.

My guess would be

Salisbury Inter - Apart from the last couple of years where they have spent time in Div 2.

The Vale - Would be close, cant remember thenm being in Div 2 for a while.

The Downs - Were up and down in the mid to late 90's

So it aint Inter

Would have to be Vale, followed by Downs, Gardens and West

I think the original question relates to the longest current run in Division One without being relegated. I would think it is the Vale.

It is the Vale.

IIRC the Downs, Gardens and Westies all got promoted together in the late 90's.

Elizabeth Vale were Division 2 Runners-up to Elizabeth Downs in 1984 and haven't dropped out of Division 1 since then..
So 2010 will be Elizabeth Vale's 26th consecutive season in SAASL Division 1 ( streets ahead of the others.)

2010 Division 1

Elizabeth Vale - 26th.
Elizabeth Downs - 10th.
Para Hills West - 9th.
Parafield Gardens - 9th.
Salisbury Florina - 5th.
Ingle Farm - 4th.
Pontian Eagles - 3rd.
Fulham United - 2nd.
Adelaide Vikings - 1st.
West Beach - 1st.

I think everyone could benefit from junior development through their own club, almost all of the clubs I have played at have had a handfull of juniors who have stepped up to seniors and most of them are the better players in the team.

I think these days in Div 1 Amateurs its essential for long term success. I look forward to the next 5 years watching our juniors come through or back to the club from Feds. The club has certainly done alot of work over the last 9 years having lost juniors for a while. Its also great to see seniors getting involved with juniors :D .

Its not the be all to have juniors though. Florina and Adelaide Villa don't and they wont the First Division this year. Vista and Gully have the stongest junior set ups in the state and they aren't dominating Div 1 at the moment. We don't have juniors and have been in the top 3 for the last 3 years.

A good coach who can attract players, a good club who can create an enviroment for them to stay and some money to pay them, that's how you create success. It might not be forever but it can last long enough.

Our juniors and seniors are completely seperate clubs, play at different grounds and have different committees. We do keep in contact with each other but otherwise have no direct link. Its a relationship we are trying to build up more and more.

Jay I didnt say its the be all to end all to have juniors, but you do need an enjoyable environment with good coaching & players then you will have long term success. Gardens have most of the ingredients together so lets wait & see :D .

Sorry mate top 3 aint success in my book so youve got some more work to do .
