AUSTRALIA clinched the ASEAN Football Federation under-16 women's championship title in convincing fashion with an 8-0 victory over Thailand in the final in Myanmar.
The Australian team dominated the first half but only led 1-0 at halftime, before pouring on the goals in the second.
Caitlin Foord and Sam Kerr both scored doubles while Heidi Makrillos and Brittany Whitfield scored one a piece to equal Caitlin Friend as top scorers for the tournament with seven goals.
"I am very pleased with the team performance tonight and through the tournament,'' coach Robbie Hooker said.
"I thought Thailand were in the match for the first half, but we controlled the match well and scored some good goals.
"I still think there are some things we need to work on including finishing, but it was a good result and valuable experience heading into the AFC Championships next month.''
