The Westfield Women’s under 17 squad, comprised of 30 of Australia's best young women players, will begin training today in a four day camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
Head Coach, Robert Hooker, believes this group of talented teenagers have been developing well following their camp last month in Sydney.
“The squad has been progressing well and are coming together more cohesively as a group,” said Hooker.
“This continues our build up to the ASEAN Cup in October and AFC Championships in November,” Hooker continued.
“The AFC Championships in November is also the qualifying tournament for the under 17 World Cup so the development of this group of players has been a continuous effort.”
“This will act as the final selection process before we finalise the squad for these next two tournaments,” finished Hooker.
Football Federation Australia in conjunction with Girlfriend magazine online is also searching for a ‘cool new name’ for the Westfield Women's Under 17’s – and is calling out for suggestions.
For the best name suggested, the lucky winner will receive a Westfield Gift Card to the value of $1,000 as well as a personal stylist for the ultimate formal shopping spree at any Westfield centre throughout Australia.

Re: Westfield U17 Squad
Well done SA girls.
I think the structure of under 17's and above, has given players a greater opportunity to experience high level sport. Well done.
