We ought to keep a clean sheet at least.

A lot of players missing for the 'Roos, we got very lucky against Bahrain over there so will need to be positve about this one ... maybe McDonald might like to open his account, with no Kennedy on the park we need someone to step up and score...
Funny press conference from PIM yesterday, when he pointed out to a reporter that 3 is more than 2, then rolled his eyes ...

Does anyone know what radio stations would be broadcasting commentary of this?

Re: Australia v Bahrain
hmmmmmmmmmm... after that performance, I am a little worried.
No excuses tonight, pressure was off, home ground and lets face it weaker opposition than what we will face in 12 mths time.
I was happy to win ugly during qualification...but tonight I expected more.
Anyone else feel the same way?

1st half was very average and scrappy I thought. 2nd half was much better tempo and alot of good pasages of play. Thought the introduction of Grella helped but Nick Carle could of been brought on earlier than he was. Good to get a result hopefully finish on a high against Japan next week!

Japan have to win by a two goal margin to take top spot.
Two cents these days is worth nothing

Re: Australia v Bahrain
Not bad for an Australia 'A' side. Macdonald is too concerned with scoring his first goal for Australia rather than playing his natural game. When he plays for Celtic, he plays more as a goal poaching forward as opposed to a leading marksman. Too small/slow for this role. Kewell never got out of secong gear, everytime he got the ball he was more concerned with holding it up and passing it backwards. Jedinak isn't a holding midfielder, he hardly saw the ball and made clumsy tackles. Coyne looked good for someone lacking match fitness, as did sterjovski. Should be a better game in melb, playing against a classier opponent... Hopefully

Re: Australia v Bahrain
Kewell's first time ball for the first goal wasn't backwards ? He does what he has to in these types of games as did the rest of the team... would like to see Djite get the sole striker spot ahead of Macca but I think Pim is just waiting for him to break his duck so he doesn't totally destroy what little confidence he has left...

Re: Australia v Bahrain
Do not get me started on this guy, I have no idea why he is even in the squad, he has never ever looked like he belongs and yet he keeps getting game time , his touch is as subtle as a sledgehammer, his positioning is worse, his attempts at finishing are pitiful, he cannot control the ball , pass or do anything else required to play for his Country. I cringe every time I see him on the field, last night was yet another demostration by him of why he should be dropped from the squad never to be seen again.ozzie owl wrote:What are everyones thoughts on Holman, he has never impressed as his first touch appears pretty ordinary.

And those are his good points...

I thought Holman was ok last night his ball through to Mcdonald was perfect and should have resulted in a goal and his tackling was solid. Apart from the few occasional brain failures I thought he deserved to be in the side.
