Adelaide United and Premier League

Post by southern »

I heard that United is resuming activities as of this week.

Does anyone know where their trainings will be and when? And does anyone know when the WLeague starts?

Also, how will selection take place this year, same as last year or the United coaches will actually go around to follow players in the Premier League? It seemed that they wanted to pay attention to the local league but then I don't think it really happened, also because when the coaches were appointed and everything was on the go the local league was at its end. This time though its different and players have time to show what they are capable of every week, provided that someone is actually watching!

What indications are coming up from the Premier League so far? Are the clubs good enough to coach and keep competitive those United players? Is it feasible to build a team based on our local players or will we see again interstate/overseas recruits that won't train with the squad and take the space of locals?

Good luck to MB and all the United girls for a better season in 2009!

Training at Fulham grounds on Monday nights. I think they start with the squad of last year, that's what I was told.

I wonder will they play the sasi girls much for practice games etc? when sasi played the prem teams in preseason won very easy and maybe would be a good practice.

I heard the united coach was at Sturt last Sunday so I reckon he saw a good game and good players
Apparently the game was very well played

I hope they pick local players before they go interstate etc. it's much better to watch them and plus they can't do much worse than last year...IMO local girls would be more motivated and enthusiastic.

I agree.
On a different but related note, I hope Victoria isn't too badly injured after last nights sasi game but it didn't look good. Was not good to see her stretchered off the field (or for that matter the other 2 girls going off to hospital with head injuries from a different incident). As a key AU & sasi player dont want to see Vic out of the game for too long.
Better news though was that Emma put in another outstanding performance in goals last night, to keep a clean sheet and help the girls get a 1-0 win against Western Strikers. If she can continue her current form then AU GK dept is looking good.

And some awesome saves by Emma last night! Kept us in the game after the head collision seeing two of our players off and then Vic aswell.
