Ronaldo if he doesn't move this season to Real Madrid. Kaka because he's too loyal. Sir Alex Ferguson (he used to be a player). Robinho because he's having a cry, Drogba because he's a massive knob and Poulsen....surely Drogba and Poulsen get this award though.

You mean Francesco "One of the best players Italy has ever produced" Totti or is it, Francesco "What a wang for scoring a penalty that never should have been" Totti.

Of all the world's great players, Kaka is by far and away, the least of a wanka.
No, its Francesco "thankyou for scoring that penalty and teaching a nothing country that it cannot yet beat the greatest, but for the rest of the time you are an absolute wanka, and deserve to cop a rocket to the head from Curva Nord" Totti.Madridista612 wrote:You mean Francesco "One of the best players Italy has ever produced" Totti or is it, Francesco "What a wang for scoring a penalty that never should have been" Totti.

we're talking football here. In football, Australia still very much is a nothing country.Madridista612 wrote: Geez man way to sell out on Australia, it's not like you live here or anything.

Australia has more trophies than Italy though. Granted their only Oceanian Cups but it's not like it was possible for us to compete in any other tournaments until very recently and I have no doubt that if the Asian Cup was played in a country with decent pitches and with a decent temperature, Australia would have won.

they have done nothing to back up all this shite, we are the best in Asia, we would've beaten Italy and then Ukraine would've been easy. my ass Ukraine would've been easy (as Neill said), they had Shevchenko, still world class at the time.
If you cant adjust to conditions, then you dont deserve to win! Simple.

Re: Most Hated Players In World Football
It's true though, but for that penalty against Italy we would have progressed, Ukraine I wouldn't say is easy but the way we were playing 1-0 win or even 2-0 wasn't out of the question, Shevchenko was also playing badly, then Germany next, a stern test, maybe would have lost there but if we were to progress we had France a team who we beat on our last meeting so?? Who knows, why can't Australia win the world cup, we have class players who have played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe and a nice bit of talent progressing through in some of the lesser (compared to England, Spain and Italy) leagues in Europe. In the Asian Cup we lost to Japan on penalties, which is pretty much a coin toss, but if we got though I don't think it was out of the question to say that we would have had a very good chance of winning the trophy.

cause its reality. The only was Australia would've got past us would have been an unlikely win on penalties.Madridista612 wrote:It's true though, but for that penalty against Italy we would have progressed, Ukraine I wouldn't say is easy but the way we were playing 1-0 win or even 2-0 wasn't out of the question, Shevchenko was also playing badly, then Germany next, a stern test, maybe would have lost there but if we were to progress we had France a team who we beat on our last meeting so?? Re: Most Hated Players In World Football
It's all speculative, but Australia is no longer a minnow in footballing terms, our golden generation may be passing but we have some very good youngsters coming up, it will be interesting to see what impact we have in the next world cup if we qualiy *fingers crossed* they dont get into a group with Spain....if they qualify *fingers crossed*

Re: Most Hated Players In World Football
Have to agree with Il Duce here..
Australia were ripped off big time in that game, but when it comes down to it, they didn't have the quality to become the world cup winners.
Yes Australia played really well throughout the World Cup and yes they got sent out of the competition because of a referee's bad decision, but had we even scraped a victory against Italy and then Ukraine (which is unlikely), Germany would have dominated us.

not a minnow, but not a world power either.Madridista612 wrote:It's all speculative, but Australia is no longer a minnow in footballing terms, our golden generation may be passing but we have some very good youngsters coming up, it will be interesting to see what impact we have in the next world cup if we qualiy *fingers crossed* they dont get into a group with Spain....if they qualify *fingers crossed*
They're a middle tier nation, and middle tier nations can beat any side on their day, but shouldn't go around acting as if they are the greatest team full of arrogance.
who is your no.1 anyway?

How long had you played against 10 men and couldn't score. You could have played 4 games and I don't think you would have scored. Only way you have progressed was through a penalty shoot out lottery.
At the end of the day australia were knocked out, as were England. It's just 2 years later I'm not still whining about it. Proves my points that the convicts are bigger whingers than the English.

Cannot argue with any of that. This dribble about climate is shite. Going into any tournament no-one is guaranteed a win.Il Duce wrote:that's the arrogance from this country I hate. Bodo mate, you're trying to tell me climate doesn't play a part in football? That sounds like dribble to me. Isn't it Ecuador and Bolivia that were complaining about the laws in regards to altitude and what not, I don't think they'd be arguing so hard if it didn't mean anything.Bodø Glimt wrote:Cannot argue with any of that. I didn't say any such thing. What I am saying is that Australia weren't guaranteed to win in any climate. In other words your claim of "if the Asian Cup was played in a country with decent pitches and with a decent temperature, Australia would have won" is a crock of shít. They may have won... possibly... but your statement of "would have" (ie. without a doubt) is what Il Duce is stressing.madrista612 wrote:Bodø mate, you're trying to tell me climate doesn't play a part in football? Re: Most Hated Players In World Football
Blaming it on climate is clutching at straws. I would like to have Australia win, but the reality was they went in too coçky and thinking it would be a cruise with poor preparation. You can't point fingers at things like climate as the sole reason the team failed.Madridista612 wrote:It's speculative but i'm confident that Australia would have won.

Re: Most Hated Players In World Football
actually what I was stressing is that the aussies were extremely arrogant going into the comp, thinking just cause they were playing small nations it would be easy, so they did not bother to prepare for the climate.
its up to the team to adjust to the climate, not for the climate to be perfect for the team.
all it showed is that australia were not ahead of Asia like they thought, that and Graham Arnold is useless.
the Socceroos aren't going to win too many fans with their attitude. Even the teams that truly are world class like Spain, Italy, Argentina etc. have some humility about them

Re: Most Hated Players In World Football
Yes I remember Lucas Neill saying Australia would win easy. Typical arrogance. Glad they got what they got in the end, terrific wake-up call.
