Best keeper in 'The big four'

Post by Crouch_15 »

Which of the 'big four' in England have the best goalkeeper?
Liverpool: Reina
Man Utd: Van Der Sar
Arsenal: Almunia
Chelsea: Cech

To me, Cech has been too dodgy of late to be the best of these four.
Almunia just plainly isn't as good as the other three in my book..
So I'm undecided between Reina and Van Der Sar.
Reina's distribution is second to none of these four imo, but when he's low on confidence he can make some howlers..

What do you all think?

It's Reina for me..
And that's not just me being biased..I actually believe he's the best of the four keepers.
Very young as well..

Reina is no good in the air
Same with Cech
Almunia isn't good at all so:

Van Der Sar is the best of the top 4

dont rate him yet but with the Lehman issue put to rest he has to prove himself this season. He didn't make many big blunders that I can remember just needs to improve strenght, i.e. parry away well struck shots better

imo Cech is the best clearly.

Reina good but makes too many mistakes. Cech has only made 2 in 3 years.
VDS has stepped up since his Juve and Fulham 'glory' days, but i don't think he's better than Cech, though he's done well
Almunia imo is a good keeper. He proved himself last year, didn't make one mistake last year and played solidly throughout the whole season. I wouldn't say Almunia is hopeless, last year i think he was one of the best keepers, probs better than Cech last year due to not making as many mistakes.

So for me Cech is the best

 at reina by a mile BS

A while ago I would have agreed with you about Cech..but as of late he's been really unreliable. Atm I'd take Reina and Van Der Sar over Cech by far..
Not Almunia tho.

Van der Sar, but only because Reina hasn't had the chance to prove himself on the international stage, nor God willing will he ever.

This topic should be about "Best keeper in the big 2"

Almunia and Reina aren't even close to Cech and VDS

that was actually 2 seasons ago... he made one mistake, which made it 3 nil in the 90th minute... can u name some other ones?!?!

I would have said Cech, but since he got his head injury, not the same. Even reina is better than him in the air now... he made 2 (?) howlers just recently in a small tournament called Euro 2008.

VDS is technicially probably the best but is prone to mental lapses just as much as Reina, is the best when the ball is in the air but is crap at communicating with his defenders.

Reina is easily the best penalty-stopper in the world. Improved a lot in the air this season, communicates well and was the form keeper this season, so I would say Reina. Or could disregard all this and just see who won the Golden Gloves.

I would have to say Van Der Sar, he is quite simply quality and has saved Man Utd several times over the last few years. Reina I think is good but he just lacks the final touch to being the best.

Reina and Almunia are not fit to lace the other two's boots and anyone who even mentions them in the same sentence is deluded (and probably got their biased glasses on) - if these two are so good why have their clubs been looking at other keepers?

Both Cech and VDS have the pedigree, the concentration, the size, the agility and the experience to be streets ahead. Clearly the top performing keepers last year were James and Given - possibly something to do with them being called upon and kept in business more often - in fact Steve Harper, Given's understudy, probably had more work to do!

i thought his mistake vs Everton was fucken terrible
i think Cech has proved over 3 years that he is clearly the best keeper in the league. The head injury has affected him but i think he'll get over it. Cech >>>>>>>> Reina

Totally unbiased view, i would say VDS.
Cudacini is a fantastic keeper, I can never understand how some ppl like to sit on their asses and do fook all.

Cech is far better, van der sar is like 80 years old and cant move. if he played for a team that had a weaker defence than man U. den he would be crap.
