Well il duce, id say Italy will go back to being Italy in the EURO, and thats another failure. Remember this, playing in Europe against ONLY European teams is different to playing Ghanas, Australias and USAs my friend

My old man tipped Greece to win EURO 04, he also tipped Italy to win WC 06, and he only tips after the 1st round of group games, so we will just have to wait and see after the 1st round who he predicts and i will go with that, until then, dont get too excited

P.S- ill never forget his phone call to me after we beat Portugal in the opening game of EURO 04, he rings and says "COLOSSUS, the opening game you just saw of EURO 04, will also be the last game you will see of EURO 04, and Greece will beat them again to win the tournament". I said, "Dad, what drugs are you on? because i want some, ok we won but dont get excited".
He said, "Son, believe me, i never get excited when Greece plays Football, because they always embarass us, only play for money but this German bloke has done something to this side."

In 06, he called the win for Italy after he saw all the 1st round group games and he says "Son, the Italians look very good, look like a team for once, they are my tip to win it" and the "once" part was in reference to you blokes being a powerhouse but flopping out in the 20+ years before when you couldnt win anything.

all that has come from 2004 is a lot of arrogant Greeks. Its fine to be arrogant when you have the results to back it up (unlike Spain), but apart from three weeks in 2004, Greece are not considered a footballing power by any stretch

If you look at the players for both the Italians and Greeks coming through, its quite obvious t see which country will be challenging for major cups over the next decade at least.

and Ghana made it to the round of 16 at a WC, better than anything Greece managed there.

how can you say greece were good for only 3 weeks??? greece kicked ass in qualifying for euro 04 beating spain in qualifying! greece of late also beat portugal in a friendly, not to mention twice on their own soil to lift the trophy. They are no pretenders, they are a quality side whether you choose to accept that or not!, Also, before qualifying for euro 04, does anybody remember that little david beckham free kick he scored in england against greece to tie the match at 2-2 and send england through to the world cup. Greece were out of the running to qualify for the 2002 world cup and were beating england 2-1 in england until a free kick was given for no reason only for beckham to tie the match and send them through! Trust me, all of europe hates playing greece, they are a tough side! david beckham himself said it was one of his top 3 all time greatest career moments if that bares any relevance to my point!

greece will score a result against spain, as their star studded team begins to argue and blame each other, greece will sneak from behind and get through to the next round! sweden are crap defensively. russia are just russia! greece also holds a great record in all games against russia!

Spain were undefeated in 2 years following up to World Cup 2006, and have been undefeated for an absolute age, last loss I think was against Sweden. So we have the results and more international achievements than Greece so we can back it up, look forward to seeing Spain lift the Euro Cup this year.

austria will lose every game easily! if they weren't given automatic qualification, they wouldn't have even come close to qualifying. They are in the same league as malta, moldova, macedonia etc! i think from memory, they have lost 90% of all their friendly and warm up matches! switzerland is decent, i think they can make 1/4 finals with home crowd!

my point is that Greece's qualifying record does nothing to prove they are a European power.
