The Great Ideas Factory

Post by billy the kid »

We've had the Charity Cup. Good concept. Poor media coverage (apart from promoting the All starts game beforehand). So what's the next big idea sawsa have to promote the women's game? Need to make sure we keep the game in the spotlight. Full on football try hard but we need mainstream media to be used to its fullest.

Are we any closer to getting a fully fledged womens national league? If so, given that most of the sasi stalwarts who made up past sensations teams are no longer in the "system" and given that sasi are in the 15c's with younger players, will we be able to field a strong and very competitive team to take on the nsw and qld teams?

Considering that any player in SA can go out for trials for Adelaide Sensations what makes you so sure we wont be a competative side in a national competition???????

I have also heard that mid year the older girls that were in SASi last year will be invited out to start training towards a national comp. But dont quote me on that i have only heard it.....

That makes more sense then that the new sasi team is a young team, so all the 'older' ones can play national.
Lets hope it true

You are right to an extent.

As players you promote the compeititon and the game by playing the best you can. YOU however, cannot get out there and promote the compeition through the media.

Just try and call a journo and say you want to do a story on sawsa comp as a whole. It might get published but I guarantee you, YOU will cop a serve. ie its not your place to promote the league/comp.

This is where I am coming from. The whole saswsa league needs to be promoted.

there was a soca show a few years ago with that val guy and i was on that show promoting womens soccer quite a few times...

promoting the game isnt just about the media..

just inside yoiur club alone u can promote it..
- coaching juniors
- going to schools

too many times have we left it up to sawsa and wendy alone...

Not entirely true ecky. SAWSA have one paid full-time employee. Wendy, and everyone else are volunteers, there are no paid board positions, there is no sponsorship manager or media/public relations coordinator. Just Wendy and while she's great at what she does, she's not Wonder Woman and can't do it all herself.

Today's soccer wrap (by Val) was great. Everything but the fact that the SAWSA league kicks off this week.

Is it too hard to give Val some info so he can write it up? I mean he can out it after the story about an Ad Untd player measutring up with a rugby player, or taht Kewell is a sex god.

Give me a break people. It ain't that F'en hard. SHAME SHAME SHAME.

no offence but Val is an absolute tossa - all he does is say how shit the womens league is and giving not just womens soccer in general compliments but trying to get a complmient on and actual female in general is like trying to ask osama bin laden to turn himself in - hes a loser that val guy.
when i was on his soccer tv show on channel 31 all he did was degrade the womens program, womens national league and women in general...

so really for all we know they could have told him that the season kiked off this week - he prob just didnt put it in.

wendy is amazing - ppl should compliment her not critisize her...

I agree about Val M however

Wendy is a trooper and heaven knows who will step up to the plate if she goes however, we need to be smarter and start to lean on FFSA and get them to provide some much needed support.

However, it does not need much effort to get a story in the paper. I've done it before and Daneil Latto is pretty good.

If Vicki can get a story in the paper about playing with sasi boys with king bonza in the background then I think we can get some publicity re: the girls.

In Saturday's paper, they had an advert publicing the charity match but only the All stars teams. Nothing about the prems challenge. This is what f^&s me off.
