Advocaat To Make Australian Decision In Two Weeks
Dick Advocaat will announce within the next two weeks whether he will become the next coach of Australia or stay with Russian club Zenit St Petersburg.
The Dutchman is the number one choice of Football Federation Australia to lead the Socceroos through qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
Current employers Zenit are keen for Advocaat to stay especially as the team is top of the Russian league with just four games of the season remaining.
Advocaat will wait until the title race is over. '
'If it were stated that I was leaving - and I am not saying that I am - then I would be the figure of blame were we to then start losing matches,'' Advocaat said according to Australian broadcasters SBS.
The Russian club has offered the former Netherlands and Rangers coach big bucks to stay and lead the team to the Champions League next year.
''We are in the middle of trying to win the title and qualify for the European Champions League and that's what I must focus on without outside distractions.''
''A lot still will hinge on whether we win the league or not.''
''I will tell everybody where my future lies in two weeks time - the board of Zenit do not yet know what I will do, but I know in my own mind what I will do, and soon I will share it with them.''
