it is a bit ridiculous that clubs that can attract these players, pay these wages, and attract this amount of fans are essentially playing in the 'fourth' division. football should be united and these strong clubs should be pushing to be at the very top of SA football.

It's not cost effective for clubs to push higher. I wouldn't class it as 4th div either. Many sat and sun div 1 teams would hold their own in the premier league

My understanding is that JT wants to develop his coaching abilities on Saturday within the FFSA but probably still feels the urge to cause some more misery for goalkeepers and defences...SAASL Sunday Premier League would be a great option for him to do so......best of/for both worlds methinks !

Trimmers can score! Very clever player and will easily win top goal scorer and best player in his first season.

Kimon Taliodoros and Joel Griffiths?

That's a huge call. Granted that Kimon didn't do much at Parramatta (but he can still finish a ball), however Griffiths still pounded them away.

But no disputing the fact that Trimboli can bury a ball.

Its just his opinion. He wasn't saying he wasn't a better striker in overall play, more that if you had to put your house on someone to score from a shot, it would be Trimmers.

4-4-2, mate sorry but "Many" teams would not hold their own, Premier league teams would smash almost every team in Sunday and Saturday...

Due to the federation having a hard on about friendly games between the 2 comps we won't find out so guess we will have to agree to disagree on that!

All I know is that I am involved in and play Amatuers because I want to. Our players and members train 2 nights a week, then come into the club for a drink and meal. They then play Sundays whether paid or not and hang around for more drinks and a feed, with on most occasions the other team and supporters. I reckon most federation clubs would be jealous of what the Gardens have done. I know we are.
All federation clubs do is charge rediculous amounts of money to there juniors for not much return. At least we know the money the Downs might pay Trimmers isn't being paid for by the junior parents. All amatuer clubs do is promote and support there juniors and then hopefully one day they will play seniors for them.

have to agree, the amateurs standard is way lower than super league and at least top half of premier league, the reason ex fed players do so well in the amateurs is because although they cant command a full 90 in fed they can easily play to the standard of the amateurs, the players they play against are nowhere as good whether it be pace due to age or simply never been at a higher standard.
the people who think amateurs are of the same standard are deluded
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

Have to disagree somewhat carra...fitness may be lower but not footballing touch.
I've known many SAASL players over the years who have made the transition from "amateurs" to "semi-semi professional amateurs" with ease.
However, if the two leagues could meet more often (as they used to in the Federation Cup and friendlies ) then we might have a better comparison.

I agree with that point, but from what I have seen amateurs, in almost every sunday div 1 and 2 they have 2-5 players (depending on which team) who would get a game at FFSA level, if they could be bothered, but the big difference is when you get down to players ranked 8-15 in amateurs is where the federation teams quality would show, IMO, which over a season would find these teams at the foot of the ladder....

The top fed teams are clearly better but who gives a toss? The comp as a whole is a basket case run by a bunch of elitists who are incapable of uniting soccer in this state under one umbrella and leasing the sport forward. Until the current clowns move to a new circus soccer in this state will stagnate leaving the idiotic position where the amateur league is thought by most to be better run and by some to be a better standard.
It's a joke people and we should all work together and fix the mess.

It is a lot of money for one player
and the $600 is hearsay !!
Its $600, lets not beat around the bush.

You too.... Ya have to be a bit more diplomatic with what you write. At the end of the day I don't recall any ffsa Ref being beaten up and teams thrown out the league. Only to then reappear under a different name.... And I am not defending the ffsa as I am not their biggest fan .....

Yet a ref was racially abused by club officials/players by one club.

I don't know if they were thrown out or not but Olympic have been in and out several times.
