Gardens score in the 82ns minute to take the game to 1-1. Pontians only minutes away from an upset. Can they recover?

Totally disagree. The downs/brahma game much better game, with some quality play and great goals.Off The Ball wrote:Better game of the reserves matches, could've gone either way!ontheblackburner wrote:Gardens 4 - Wanderes 3

Gardens 3 - Pontians 2 (AET). Some scuffles in the crowd after a pontian supporter threw a beer at a gardens supporter.

Go cook you chicken wings mate and try and focus on your team.
Congrats to the Para people that removed the person that was involved in this so called scaffle.
As for the game Parafield played well with the Pontians keeper making some outstanding saves. Pontians were close to a win but the game does go fir 90 minutes and Para have won many games late.
Im sure they will go on and win the final and continue being the dominate force they are.
No excuss today both team had chance and the one that took the most won. Conrats Para

what's wrong Karmann, did I hurt your feelings mate?
did you enjoy watching two GOOD teams play you TWAT?
wheres Florina? probably wont have a team next year. they all might go to INTER
As for the game. It was a good hard contest with many chances for both sides. First goal in the 73rd minute for Pontians which was a well worked move. Pontians maybe thinking of a finall and subs were made. Then Parafield push for equaliser and in 83rd minute a sub comes on and finishes very well. Game goes to extra time and I thought Parafield started to show some danger sides of scoring and they did either side of half of extra time(well created goals)
. Last 2minutes made very interesting when Pontian scored a quality free kick. Over all though Parafield had a few more chances over the match and they showed why their number 1 in the Amatuer league with a good late come back. Best of luck to the boys next week they will win it if they play like they did today.
Its only a matter of time when the muppet comes and bags us
on a side note the Parafield vs wanderers reserves game was quality for a nuetral. End to end with some good and SHOCKING finishes. Most bad finishes from wanderers hate to say.

Well done Gardens. A great win and into another final. All credit to Pontians who like Gardens had many chances and the game was there for either team to take. Pontian striker who got dragged missed two In two minutes both looked harder to miss than score. Could have wrapped it up there and then. Pontians will be on the money next year if they can keep most of their squad. Gardens with a chance to write history if they can pull off the double double. The only Club still in the league to have done it before. If they can do it twice it will be a record that will stand for many many years. Go you Gardens.

Re: Semi Final Cup Scores
Some good football played today. The Pontian v Gardens match should have been the final, great game to watch as a neutral. Both teams had their chances but Pontians struck first, but even then you could never count out Gardens. They showed why they set the standard in the amateur league and dug deep to equalize before the 90 and then create a 2 goal cushion in extra time. Pontians to their credit kept fighting and with a goal 2 minutes from time the match could have gone to penalties. Overall Gardens looked the fitter team and saw the game out.
The second semi was a different story with Vale having most of the play in the first half. Chris Nicholls put the Vale ahead and looked like one way traffic. Beograd though did not drop their heads and at one stage were playing some good 1 touch football. 2nd half Vale looked the fitter team and eventually ran out 3-0 winners. Should make for a cracking final with Vale the only team to beat Gardens this year, but after the thrashing handed out the last time these 2 teams met, it's hard to look past Gardens.

Re: Semi Final Cup Scores
Excellent day at Hindmarsh today....but it was a long day of football for me....my lad played at 9:00 at O'Sullivan Beach and from there to Hindmarsh by 11:00 and finally got home at 8:40pm....a 12 hour day
I was surprised by the scoreline blow out in the Downs v Brahma Reserves game....Wanderers took the game right up to Gardens Reserves.
The Pontians v Gardens game was almost a replay of Gardens semi against BOSA with Brad Donovan coming from the bench and scoring to keep Gardens in the game...( even had the same referee on both occasions )
Beograd played well against the Vale but Chris Nicholls demonstrated why he is one of the better finishers in the league with 2 typi-coll strikes.
Took quite a few photos (600 to sort through) but it will take some time to get through them (the ones under floodlighting are crap....need to work on the ones in poor light )....always good to catch up with a few members from the SAASL football community.

it wasnt that big a deal pontian supporter was a bit over the top and the garden supporter added fuel !!
appart from a bit of name calling back and forth the situation was settled easily
the pontian pres & gardens vice pres had a chat & made sure calm was kept.
As karmann said worry about your clubs season next year !!

Re: Semi Final Cup Scores
As a neutral I went along and watched the games yesterday at hindmarsh and these were my thoughts:
Only saw the last 10-15 mins of the downs v lodge game, lots of long balls from both sides with downs having a bit more zip around the pitch.
Wanderers v Gardens, gardens have a very mobile team (mostly) however they lack a bit of composure and structure and seem to thrive off the long ball. Wanderers probably fashioned the better chances in the first half but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping (f*ck he is huge!) meant that they were likely to struggle. In the second half as Wanderers fitness began to fade gardens were able to take control. Gardens number 8 pulled out a fairly piece of outrageous bit of skill to score one of the goals that I am sure he wouldn't be able to do again in 100 years but it was very impressive all the same. Wanderers got a third late on but it was too late and probably the better team got through on the balance of play.
Pontians v Gardens, fantastic game that was very much an even contest. Pontians high tempo pressure and possesion game seemed to trouble Gardens a bit but to their credit they were resilient. Matteo took the absolute p*ss out of the gardens no14 and I was surprised he was taken off. Some of Agius and Brooks link play was exceptional and having never seen Ebomo play before he is definitely the class player that the hype suggested. Pontians were very solid at the back and they worked hard to probe for an opening through a very resolute and well organised defence. The difference in this game was the impact that Donovan had from the bench. All in all it was an excellent game that was fitting of a final.
Vale v Beograd, this game was always going to be a tester for the commitmently challenged beograd. Vale came out hard and were pushing to stamp their authority on the game early which they did through a fantastic finish from Chris Nicholls. The game was very much in the balance however Beograd weren't able to convert some of their excellent 1 & 2 touch build up play into clear chances. As the game wore on Vale's superior fitness shone through and they were able to finalise the game at 3-0.
All in all it was a good day to watch some at times thrilling football in a venue that was befitting the occasion. The rugby lines were confusing for a spectator so I can't imagine how they would be for a player.
