Its a very low act to spit on the ground, let alone a human being. Suprised the offender wasn't KO'd. For the faking incident, no real biggy. The Vipers captain is a hard, but fair player. Yes he pushes the limits at times... bit like a Kevin Muscat.... but I'd have him in my side any day. Going to be hard for the Viper boys now.

5CT, you speak of him being hard and fair. What is fair about going to ground when you never got touched? Obviously his aim was to fool the ref in getting one of the Hawks players sent off. In my books that is flat out cheating and a gutless act. You speak about him being hard. What is so hard about when there is a scuffle between players you pike out of the situation and fall to the ground? It is a gutless act and a cowardly one at that. A captain should be leading by example. I would be embarrassed and ashamed if anybody that I ever played with showed such unsportsmanlike behaviour as mentioned. As a coach I bet I know what you ask from your players because I have played against you in the past. You ask for 90mins of relentless, competitive pressure and 100% commitment in every challenge. If you saw players from your team faking injuries and rolling around on the ground trying to con the ref in getting a free kick you would tear them to shreds. I know I would.

Lastly, I have never played or been associated with the Vipers or Hawks. I have mates in both teams hence why I decided to watch that match. I have no problem with Vipers as a club. They seemed like they are well setup and had good support on the sideline. However, rightly or wrongly, my opinion has me having a problem with two incidents that occurred on Saturday.

There is some truth in what onthemound has said, but alot of it is emotional ranting though.
We lost fair and square, it was a good hit out and I was one of the first to shake the hawks hands once the final whistle blew.
It was a physical game on both ends, a hawk defender, number 5 I think it was, made a conscious effort to taunt our kid striker (I say kid, because he's a teenager, and this guy looked like he was old enough to be his father), which involved him kicking him in the head off the ball when he had flattened him already.
That's pretty dirty in my book, but he's a good sport, he got back up and went about his business!!

I could highlight alot more questionable things that happened in the game yesterday, but then I'd be heading into whinging territory, and besides ...that's amateur league football anyways, get over it (like we did).
The two people in question are mates of mine, Im glad to have a captain like him, and the other bloke you speak of is one of the best midfielders in the league, (and he was punched in the face, and had a bloke attempt a one on one fight on the park too btw). All that, and onthemound's take on events is more one sided than a FIFA Presidental election.

It was a good hit out, we both were physical, they scored one more goal than us, making them the better team on the day!

Get off your high horse and get over it!

i agree with you. the same player you mention was very dirty in our first match against us, hence he got k.o. however when we played for a second time, he had his tail between his legs. from what i have seen of him, he is a good player and it is unfortunate that he may be percieved as a bit of a cheater in this incident. Good players make mistakes.

Wes mantooth - I didn't witness what you observed, however, if what happened did take place then it is disapointing to hear, although I don't know what age has to do with it. If you deem one of your players is too young to play against grown men then you shouldn't have let him take the field.
Incidents have obviously taken place. The good thing is the sun will come up tomorrow and we all have a chance to start again. For me, next Saturday I'm off to the football to see the Goody Saints. Got to love Amatuers...

Was going through the results of the second half of the season last night while the power were collecting their wooden spoons. Interesting to see how the ladder would of looked if this was the start of the season.

Uni 13pts
Hawks 10
Cougars 10
Budapest 9
Comets 6
Lion 5
Hahndorf 5
Titans 4
Vipers 4
Breakers 3

The big movers are the Cougars. Since their loss to the Hawks they have really turned things around in the last 4 matches winning 3 and drawing 1. Well done to Jamie and his crew for stepping it up and are now well safe from the drop zone.
Budapest have also done very well and are only 1 of 2 teams not to have lost a match in the second half of the season. The other being Uni.
Disappointing to see the Comets and Vipers drop off the pace as it was shaping up to be a great finish to the season. Not all is lost as promotion is still a mathematical possibility but highly unlikely.
Uni are looking the goods and will be hard for the Hawks to catch them from here although they do meet again before the season ends.

Match of the round this week has to be Lion v Budapest. Relegation tussles are always a good spectacle.

Round 15:

Titans vs. Vipers - both teams out of form
Cougars vs. Breakers - Cougars too strong
Lion vs. Budapest - Tough call though, budapest in some form.
Comets vs. Hawks - Hawks shouldn't slip
Hahndorf vs. Uni - Uni shouldn't slip (how is the pitch up there?)

Congrats.....Vipers depth has been tested for the last 4 weeks :( Like all sides injury/departures play a large part in the amateur season....Well done to Titans today...What made it worse there was no beer at the canteen to drown the sorrows.

Considering the great start you guys had... the wheels have fallen off in past weeks for the Vipers. Uni and Hawks have it wrapped up. Hawks have a 6 point buffer from 3rd place. Uni and Hawks clearly a cut above the rest. Results show....

PS- Vipers played their strongest team against us. It has only been 3 weeks with out a couple of your stars... thought you would still have enough depth though to cover these lads?? Some good players at the Vipers.

Definitely wasn't our strongest team of the year when we lost against you. We started to lose players after the budapest game and never quite recovered. Anyway, we'll be back to do it all again next year!

Hope your having a good time... its 4 degrees over here. I am presuming you are their number 4 who was one of the Vipers instrumental players in the midfield or their captain (no 6)???. Hard to replace players like yourselves and Eluther. Vipers should want to end the season on high considering their performance this year. Enjoy your holiday.

Congratulations to the Uni boys for securing promotion back to Div 1 against Hahndorf on the weekend. A big night of celebrations followed :)

Now we can regroup and focus on winning the league.

Back in Div 1 where we belong. Now we have to finish it off with the championship.

Quite an odd game on the weekend. We looked really untested when we were 4-0 up at half time, some suicidal defending resulting in an interesting final result of 7-3.

We get to the pointy end of the season.

Its Uni's title to lose, its the Hawks promotion spot to lose.

Relegation battle looms large over net few weeks. Southern Breakers are officially mathematically gone and that is a shame.

Titans 20 (Comets (A), Southern Breakers (H), Uni (A))
Hahndorf 15 (USC Lion (H), Cougars (A), MA Hawks (H))
Budapest 14 (Vipers (A), Comets (H), Southern Breakers (A))
USC Lion 12 (Hahndorf (A), Vipers (H), Cougars (H))

USC Lion v Hahndorf his a huge game this week. Cougars loom as a side that could break a few hearts on the run home and Im sure there would be nothing more that 5CT would love better.

Its hard to pick who should be the 2nd team relegated after breakers, i didnt realise it was so close

Uni 35
Hawks 32
Comets 26
Vipers 25

Titans 20
Hahndorf 15

The website hasn't been updated to correct the Uni vs Lion score. The table should be as follows.

Uni 38
Hawks 32
Comets 26
Vipers 25
Cougars 22
Titans 20
Hahndorf 15
Budapest 14
Lion 12
Breakers 4

Lion play Hahndorf next week and I think this will decide the outcome of the relegation battle. Having played the two sides in the last two weeks I expect Lion to win this relatively comfortably and go on to survive. Budapest appear to have an easier run home than Hahndorf, so I reckon they will survive as well.

The relegation battle is more exciting than the promotion battle, unless we (hawks) decide to drop a game or two!

My pick is hahndorf to go down, I can suspect lion will have a few of their better players come back for the run home...and also we could have a promotion vs relegation fight in the last game when we travel to hahndorf!! Could be cracker!!!!
