Dan Stuart, Tony Reeves .... Scott Bradley, David Mooney
Good effort from Knights to come back after being a goal down....particularly with 6 normal 1st Team starters out due cards accumulation, sickness and holidays (Matt Harrison Steve Maguire, Paul Martin, Anthony Rideout, Chris Bradley, Ben Vidgeon}. Well in from those that stepped in and performed well. Phil Smith played a full game in goal for Knights Reserves and followed up with a full game in the A's with some game saving stops. Mick Paay defended well all day up against Tony Reeves and succumbed to a head injury during the second half. Richard Kemp and Alex Field continued with improving form and Scott Bradley (fresh from his Thursday night Muay Thai fight victory.) displayed some of his 2010 form. David Mooney had one of his better games for the year along with Ben Jones, both keeping pressure on Brahma Lodge all day. In defence Lee White and Glen Crute had shakey starts but held firm as the game progressed. Up front Paul Thompson linked up with Bradley Armour and Scott Bradley and tested Brahma on many occasions.
Knights scored first with a superb strike from Scott Bradley but Brahma answered when a near post header was flicked to the back post and the ball scrambled over the line.
Tony Reeves put Brahma Lodge ahead when Knight failed to clear, Reeves swivelled around and hammered the ball into the roof of the net from 12 metres out.
With the scoreline a 2-1 to Brahma, Knights came out with a sense of urgency but couldn't break through until the 80th minute when David Mooney slotted home his 6th league goal of the season.
A telling Phil Smith save from a Tony Reeves header made certain that Knights held on to a valuable away point despite having several chances themselves to secure all 3 points.
Not sure why the referee moved me from near the corner flag..(particularly if you observe the spectators at the opposite end)probably in response to me suggesting Brahma's No.2 to stop whingeing to the referee trying to get David Mooney a second yellow for appealing for hand ball :?
As for the referee singling out one vocal spectator (and forum poster) and saying he would not resume the game until he was removed....can't understand that one....apart from the fact it was bloodypassit
Thanks to Brahma Lodge for the beer vouchers, hospitality and chats after the game.

Pile up of cars trying to get along the this important game...

Knights come under attack from Brahma early in the encounter.

Mick Paay did a good job on Tony Reeves and Phil Smith had an excellent game in goal as Richard Kemp (8) and Lee White prepare to defend.

Brahma Lodge's No. 8 out leaps Alex Field whilst Mick Paay, Lee White and Phil Smith (obscured) are helpless to prevent the lead up to Brahma Lodges opening goal.

Ben Jones and Bradley Armour await the ball coming their way...Brahma line up a defensive wall...

David Mooney and Mick Paay are somewhat dwarfed by the imposing stature of Tony Reeves.

A little blurry as Scott Bradley drives the ball passed Brahma Lodges keeper from 25 metres for Knights 1st half equaliser.

Celebration for Knights but they are soon back to defensive duties.

The aerial duels between Brahma's Mark Beck and Knights David Mooney were always strongly contested.

Ben Jones flys high and goes close as Brahma Lodge soak up some of the first half pressure but go to the break with a 2-1 lead..

Paul Thompson and Richard Kemp await a corner seeking to equalise for Knights in the second half.

Brahma Lodge head the ball clear... and a light hearted midfield discussion about some of the days decisions.

The local supporters gathered around "Lodge Corner" cheering on their A's as Knights coach Ben Smith looks on.

Brama's keeper does well to keep the ball from reaching an airborne David Mooney (11).

There are more questions than answers....

Bradley Armour sees the funny side of the days outing.

Paul Thompson put in the hard yards and Scott Bradley was very determined all day.

Phil Smith did exceptionally well to turn a well placed strike around the post.

Ben Smith looks somewhat bemused as the referee will not restart the game until a certain outspoken forum member leaves the ground...

To quote an infamous political leader "please explain ?"

Joy for Knights as David Mooney equalises with about 10 minutes to go ( which turned into nearly 20 minutes ?).

Mark Beck wins an aerial contest with Bradley Armour late in the game.

Substitute Andre Rickers (makeshift 19) recovers from a collision that saw a Brahma Lodge player dismissed with 5 minutes to go.

Knights soak up the pressure in the 9th minute of time added on...

The Knights "think tanked" on the mini bus home...via the Marion Hotel...
Reserves
Brahma Lodge ( 2 ) Southern Knights ( 1 )
I.Joseph 2....................... Dustin McMahon
Despite some major rearrangements due to several late withdrawals, Knights Reserves played some good football at Brahma Lodge.
Knights lost leading goalscorer Paul Thompson to the A's but Anthony Micheal filled in admirably with some fine touches and lay offs.
Dustin McMahon played well up front for Knights ansd seized the opportunity to draw level with "Thommo" as leading scorer when he scored an excellent angled goal from 20 metres to give Knights a 0-1 lead in the secod half.
Brahma Lodge introduced young 16 year old I.Joseph and he equalised following a defensive mixup with about 20 minutes remaining.
The highlight of the day was watching Joseph give Brahma a 2-1 lead with a spectacular overhead kick.
The other highlight of the day was the tag-team effort in home refereeing (3 in all)...the first Referee appeared to become sick of abuse from the Lodge sidelines, the second referee was an A-Team player who relinquished the whistle at half time.

Sacha "Mr Love" Lovric chases down his Brahma counterpart with Andre Rickers looking on.

Knights under the pump early on.

Brahma clear their lines.

Who ate all the pies ?....................................the second half began at 0-0.

Anthony Micheal had an excellent game up front for Knights whilst Richard Finlayson marshalled the Knights defense.

When push comes to shove !!

Dustin McMahon celebrates his 8th goal of 2011...

Very blurry...but this is a second or two before Brahma's 16 year old I.Joseph scored his spectacular overhead goal to give Brahma their 2-1 victory.
