The primary issue here is that Les has reported in his book what he has heard which is being refuted by those who were present at the time. This brings into questions Les' judgement in relation to explicitly trusting his source and raises the question as to how much double checking he did of what is essentially an explosive accusation.

At this juncture unless a first hand account is delivered that confirms Les' version of events then his professional reputation as a journalist may be damaged.

This would be a pity as it is looking at this stage as a poor judgement call from someone who has been a long and loyal servant to the game in Australia.

haven't heard that one, no one from in the room has backed Les's point of view. Neil has threatend legal action so it will be interesting if anyone steps up and backs ol Les.

Les has now made an official apology to Lucas, saying his source had misled him to actual events on the day. Lucas has accepted apology and will not take things any further.

Would love to know who this source was. Top wind up though!
