unfortuantly, junior clubs are part time, so the FFA has no choice but to intervene and create elite programs for the elite kids. i dont think parents of these selected kids will complain about it! think about it, european/sth american countries - their own FA would never intervene in youth development as the clubs themselves have accademies that pump out players. we aint got that here, and until we do, the FFA will continue its current path imo.

I agree with the sentiment regarding what happens to a kid that gets rejected by the system when they no longer are affiliated to a club. Reading comments on here from certain clubs I doubt whether they would be welcomed back.

The problem is that FFA recognises that the standard of coaching at club level is generally inadequate for elite players and that too many clubs are more interested in their own clubs lifting trophies at junior level and less interested in kids getting what is best for them.

Remember, the clubs don’t own the kids. Clubs charge a fee for kids to be coached and play.

Obviously I am going to be called a tosser by people who are more interested in having the ‘best’ junior club in the state, but guess what, its not about you its about the kids.

Correct

All over Europe there are 'amateur' clubs, which ALL 30 odd clubs here in Adelaide are....amateur, run by volunteers and coached by volunteers !!

Then you have professional clubs and their academies, which we dont have here

In Europe, if you are good enough, you move from the amateur club to the professional club

Because there are no professional clubs here (except AU but have no junior pathway yet), then the FFA/FFSA must somehow 'try' and develop the more talented players even more

No child is forced to play for State (and hence pay for the trip), if you dont want your child involved, you wont send them out to trials............simple really !!

If the talk is true, there is a big shake up coming.............

 what a joke :!: the ffa's job is to develop the game, not the player  give resources to help clubs become professional, instead of spending millions on world cup bids and false junior academies
 is the only cost of State the flight :?: go check  on 1 hand u say Oz can't develop players & on the other u say if they can't pay hard luck     :(
 I hope that the Fed Government investigation of the FFA includes the FFSA :|

Only reason it wont happen is because none are willing to band together for the right reasons. :x
