Correct me if Im wrong. But didnt the hot weather policy say anything 35 deg or over, as printed in Fridays Advertiser, the game would not be official as no referees will offiiate the game between 12-5pm
Also the insurance will not be valid I was led to believe :?

The tournament organisers are going to meet in the next day or so and discuss what will happen.

I dont speak legalese nor am i the SAASL insurance expert.

We just want to take all appropriate precautions within our control to ensure:

1 - players dont get injured; and/or
2 - players dont succumb to heat exhaustion

all ideas to mitigate these risks is what i feel good steps in placing a priority on the health and welfare of those involved.

Whilst we are having an official SAASL ref, I think there are more practical things that tournament organisers are considering implementing to ensuer that the health and welfare of tournament players from all teams are the number 1 priority.

*** UPDATE TO SUNDAYS FIXTURES ***

Looks like the wheather is going to be ok (i guess) being a top of 30 degrees. However, as a precautionary measure the tournament management committee has agreed to bring the fixtures back so that games start earlier.

Therefore the fixtures will be as follows Sunday 27th of February
10.00am Budapest v Asteras
11.30am Beograd v Macedonia
1.00pm Asteras (B’s) v Budapest (B’s)
2.30pm 3rd v 4th (3rd place)
4.00pm 1st v 2nd (1st place)

The competition is pretty even, so the last round of the round robin will determie who will play off as both 1st and 2nd place are still up for grabs.

Who won the final. When I left Macos were winning 1 nil against Asteras

A big congratulations goes to Macedonia who won the Pre-Season Euro Cup.

The final score (8-0) is really not a true reflection on the evenness of the competition. Unfortunately there were quite a number of Asteras A players who were unavailable due to (a chirstening, going to the united game etc.) So unfortuantely, they werent able to put a strong As team on the park.

All in all, Macedonia are deserved winners.

After going through the process, I must admit that by not charging teams to participate and solely relying on our bar, BBQ and raffle, we were able to afford a SAASL ref, have a ground in excellent condition with lines marked buy trophies, give free plates of chevaps, bread and salad out to the guys who stuck around on sunday and still come out ok.

Just to show you can run a pre-season comp without havnig to charge $750 to amateur teams
