German Bundesliga
Mitch Langerak – Borussia Dortmund – B-

Langerak was signed to be Dortmund's back-up keeper and hopefully develop into their future number one and so far it's been a smooth transition for the youngster. He got some gametime in pre-season but hasn't seen a minute of competitive action this season but has done well enough settling in for now.

Brad Jones – Liverpool – D

You can understand Jones' reasons for moving from Middlesbrough to Liverpool but his lack of gametime is an issue. Jose Reina has a firm grip on the number one shirt but Jones has made two appearances, while shoulder problems have affected his season too.


Sheep stations and all, but I found this amusing for the keepers - how could they give Jones a 'D' and Langerak a 'B' - langerak is 2nd choice by default, with Bundeslige clubs not having anywhere the depth of permier league clubs, whereas Jones is ahead of three young keepers of which two are much more highly regarded than langerak, with our own Bouzanis coming up their rears. Perhaps more a reflection on how the journo feels about Jones?perhaps a 'B' for Jones and a 'C' for Langerak?

Although it does seem a little strange as the two seem to be in the same position, perhaps - rightly or wrongly - it is a reflection of where they are at in their respective careers. Langerak is young and has just signed in Europe. Perhaps he might have been expected to linger in the reserves or be loaned out for a season or two. Jones, on the other hand, has more experience. This doesn't reflect the depth of Liverpool as opposed to Dortmund, but might explain the journo's ratings a bit better.

Perhaps. However a 'D' for Jones makes no sense. he's doing a good job behind a keeper rated by many as one of the world's best. I think it might be more a case that Jones is seen as a an easy target for being happy to be a squad keeper, albeit at one of the world's biggest clubs.

you'd give langerak a 'B' if he had forced his way into the cup side, otherwise he's still just in a development role.
