it can be seen negatively, but also it can be seen as a team who stick together in the tough times. Depends how you interpret it. But i understand both arguments

Re: W League Washout
It seems sometimes you just cant win - if they were top,and did that, people would complain that it would be seen as a distraction However,if they had dragged the coach through it as well,I think it would've made a great team building session -maybe if they had a coach that was female,or one they respected, maybe would have got involved too ?
Let them go,they have been under a lot of pressure, are they not allowed to have some fun at such a difficult time ?

i can promise you that not all members of the team did this after a 4-0 drumming. imagine the AU men doing that!

They are a fuc*en embarassment to the womens game here in this STATE.juniorsupporter wrote:Could be a step on the road to team unity. Nothing wrong with a little fun-
Seriously how many games can they lose before somebody does something?
Call it anything else other than an embrassment then you need your head checked.
Look at the picture of them splashing around - do they realise they have not won a game in years and were getting thumped 4-0?
They should hang there heads in shame.
Re: W League Washout
Some of you people need to get serious!
These girls are not paid to play like some of the other states, and yes they are representing the state, so why shouldnt they be paid then.
Get of there backs, if they want to have a little fun in a season that is hard enough then let them.
Funny how there isnt a pic of Canberra doing the same thing, as they were the first to do it.
Too say they are a f_kin embarassment shows how much support they are getting.
The only embarassments are the people who get on here rubbishing girls who are doing the best they can with the instructions given.
Ease up and get another life if you cant support these girls.
Theres always other sports where you can bag the team as much as you do.

They should not be immune to criticism - they are representing there state and to dish up performances like they have been week after week, month after month, year after year is a fu*cken embarassment - FULLSTOP.What the? wrote:Some of you people need to get serious!

If it had just been a run of bad performances or a bad season ok give them a bit of slack maybe with the conditions they have to play under (no pay as you say) but to go on for years like this - come on who are you kidding.
You cant tell me that in all of SA we can't put together a womans team that would have been able to get 1 win - yes only 1 little win in the past how many years???
Please someone has to be accountable - if these girls cant stand the heat and scrutiny then GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN so to speak.
What do you expect people to say - yeah its ok - keep trying.
These girls should be flogged - they should be brought to there knees in pre-season training and those that haven't got the heart would be soon weasled out.

I think your the joke!
Its been 3 years, and yes they havent won too many, but they go out there trying there best.
They maneged to draw last year with the champions of the year before, thats a good effort, did you get on here and congratulate them, I dont think so!
You only get on here and sprout your crap when things are down.
Why dont you come up with a solution rather than just rubbishing all the girls who are trying to get a win, even though you dont think they are.
You say they should be flogged in pre season, well whos fault is that if they are not.
Wheres your bagging of the coach! Isnt he part of the problem, or is it all the girls.
The girls can stand the heat, they just dont read this crap, but some of us do, but maybe wish we didnt.
My opinion is that the coach isnt working, and I think S.A needs to look far and wide for a new coach.(not just in S.A)

Re: W League Washout
I have said in another topic that Barnett should go but obviously the powers that be do not think he is the problems as he is still there.
How he can keep 9 players from last years squad that failed to win a game is beyond me.
They have not won a game since 2008 - I mean you say I am bagging them but if Adelaide united mens team had not won a game since 2008 what do you think the reaction would be?
Coaches and players heads would roll - simple as that.
And for your earlier reply to Canberra also splashing around the wet park they were winning the game 4-0 so why would people find anything wrong with that - they were thumping us.
Instead of Adelaide utd splashing around they should have gone straight into the showers instead of embarassing themselves splashing around like fools after being thumped - you would think they would have wanted to get out of there as quick as possible after ANOTHER toothless performance.

Re: W League Washout
I have read the comments and opinions on the Lady Reds, their coach and their results - and I agree that something just isn't right and needs fixing, but I just want to discuss things a bit more 'generally' to start with - the details and solutions may develop in people's thoughts from there perhaps?
What I find hard to reconcile is that SA has been relatively competitive at junior level nationally over the past 5 years or so - why hasn't this translated to being competitive at senior level? I'm not saying we have been outstanding, just competitive.
Look at U17s at 'Nationals' during that time, regularly making top 3 or 4 and doing well against the "eastern powerhouses". As recently as this year we had the player of the tournament, several players in the 'all stars' team, and also another player who was apparently in contention for player of the tournament too. They also managed to hold NSW Metro and QLD to draws which is no small achievement. (only 2 players from that team are now in the AU squad - they are still relatively young though)
Those achievements this year are really no different to what SA has been achieving for a while now at that level though, and a number of players who have been in these 'competitive' junior teams in recent(ish) times are in the AU team now - so what's changed? This is what needs to be addressed and carefully considered.
Are we providing the right environment/support/pathway for these talented juniors to develop and transition to the senior ranks? From what I have seen at SASI (and with junior state teams) over the past few years things have been moving in the right direction despite what many seem to say on this forum. The problem is that there is still something of a 'disconnect' between the relevant parties. It's getting better gradually but there has been a need for better integration, and the signs are it is beginning to improve now.
All parties need to work TOGETHER to solve this - players, coaches, local clubs, SASI, FFSA & AU alike if women's football is going to move forward at the pace required in SA. They all need to see the 'bigger picture' otherwise we will fall behind, and our local talent will look elsewhere to achieve their ambitions.
Only when we achieve this integrated approach will we see more local talent developing to W League and national team level and the Lady Reds start to be competitive, because we cant continue 'importing' players who are only with the playing group on game days. (unless it becomes 'professional' and they train here too, and that's not going to happen any time soon is it now?)
This is only my opinion though - maybe others agree, maybe others think I'm talking rubbish?

A little old and the wrong sex to be a player, but thanks for the compliment.
Guess you think if someone defends the girls then you have to be one of them.
well Im sorry but no matter how much this hurts your wrong.
And even if I had the priviledge to be a player, why shouldnt they comment, everyone else here seems to say what they like, even at the expense of rubbishing some quality players.
I dont comment on here very often but sometimes the rubbish i read really gets my blood boiling.
supporters of the Lady Reds I think not!

Re: W League Washout
I understand all the points about how doing such a thing after a 4-0 loss, with a 0-5 record is not a good look at all.
Have a look how many in the pic are from SA...most of them from the pic i have seen are all from interstate so I think that the local players were more responsible in this situation. But then again....is there more pictures?
Lets hope the results improve soon, otherwise we'll soon see 30 games without a win before you know it. Bit like the NZ Knights

is this thread even serious"? Do you think these girls don't give it there all week in week out? Do you honestly think they like getting thumped week in week out? I can tell you that they don't to have a bit of fun in that kind of weather isn't a bad thing no matter the result.
