Young Roos storm into semis

The Young Socceroos reached the AFC Asian Under-19 Championship semi-finals in China with a 4-2 victory over United Arab Emirates.

By reaching the semi-finals Australia also qualified for next year’s World Youth Cup.

At the end of 90 minutes the scores were locked at 2-2.

But goals from Mathew Leckie and Matthew Fletcher gave the Australians an impressive victory.

The Young Socceroos had to survive a few nervous moments after the dismissal of Ryan McGowan for two yellow cards late in the game.

Australia’s next opponent on Thursday night (AEDT) is the winner of Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia quarter-final.
