Bud signed up with Vista again, not sure if LRO is staying at Gully, Easties have Moggy confirm he is coaching them.

In the Feds there is Earl at Modbury but hard to see him leave.

How far North East are we talking?

Ok knuckleheads enough of the smoke and mirrors I see the north east smoky worked I have just had some news straight off the press. The new downs coach for season 2011 is Alan Mottram. With a few suprise signings already which I will not let out of the bag as I do not want to harm any negotiations at present but all in due course. We are talking up to 5 signings with one poised to be one of the best signings we have had. Keep you informed when I get the clearance from the boys in charge...Welcome back Mr Motts.... 8) 8) 8)

Good appointment by the Downs if true legga, we only ever saw a Strong Downs Club on the park when Motts was there. He can also recruit well & will have too next year.. The Downs had no depth this year (not sure if that was due to injury or what) but it was evident in your reserves, & it was the worst Downs performances Ive seen in both A's & B's in a long time. Mind you we did score 10-0 against you in 3 games, so we might have got you on 3 bad days. Any way hopefully Motts can lift you back to being at least competitive...
legga you know I'm right...

No legga it's just that you finally read something I wrote properly.

I thought I read on here the Elizabeth Downs policy was that you always advertise for a coach? e.g T.T.G
Don't get me wrong I don't agree with advertising for a coach especially if you have the right Coach or can get him without advertising. Why risk loosing the Coach you want to keep to another Club because of policy?
If you don't then yes advertise see what's out there, but if you do why waste everyones time???
I think the Gardens are going to advertise & we did the TREBLE (new policy I think) not sure but I think why bother ???
That's my opinion anyway...

Some clubs have it written into their constitution that they have to advertise for coaches annually, don't they? Maybe that is why PG are advertising. You would think a treble-winning coach would surely keep his job....

Not sure on policy I would say we havent advertised for the last couple either but did they apply or what not sure. I try not to get involved in these decisions and trust the powers to be get it right thats why they took on the job and as you say you have to make hay while the sun shines or someone may pounce on whoever they can. In my opinion a good move to get the club back on track, create the passion motts always brought to the table and we all know motts ability to attract the right sort of player. How do you define advertise? papers, word of mouth. Is yours tied into constituion or was your coaches approached..Whats the go out there in wally world.. Not saying the decisions we have made previously are bad after all bert was a bees wick away from having a double as coach. Who the f**k knows....Enlighten me oh great one nugget the oracle..

legga you chicken sh*t you don't want to talk about it leave it to the Boss whaa whaa....

The only thing in our constitution like most is that all positions besides the presidents 2 year term become vacant at the AGM. There is nothing about having to advertising for a coach, i never did, didnt have too we had the right coach i believed if i didnt i wouldve advertised. Why because that becomes too restrictive to the club. What happens if you get a Motts who want the job but wants to be given a 2 yr term? Do you lose him or give him 2yrs. Me & Bazza had a understanding & constantly communicated we had no reason to advertise so we didn't...
I think the argument becomes very plain when you look at T.T.G.S.C
I believe the reason for what's happened to them from the verge of Div.1 to now Div.3 is stability, coaches getting promoted, see ya! making Cup Finals see ya!
Look at Gardens 2 coaches in 11 yrs 2 Leagues 2 Cups 1 Cicanowski 1 Champions have made min of Semis in the Cup in all bar 1 yr. Look at the Downs Champions 2 coach leaves Runner Up change coach & then this year it says it all to me you can't beat stability in a Club.

Look at Central Districts Chris Grant & Roy Laird stability at the top it's key too success !!!

Think you will find that most, if not all clubs constitutions state that a coach's position in the club will be an annual job, with only the committe, all present, to contract the coach for numerous years. Also this must be a unanimous decision also I believe.
Clubs must have meetings as soon as they can after the season is done to appoint the coach again, otherwise they must advertise, even if this is a pointless episode as most clubs would stick with what they have, or, at least have been chasing their 'ideal' person for the job and touched base with them.
I may be wrong but I know this is the way with clubs I have been involved with.

Yep, read it again. All I stated was that alot of clubs have what I wrote stated in their constitutions.
Meeting will be held with Baz to discuss the future. At this stage the club is more than happy for things to continue the way they are pal..
I agree, why advertise if the situation can be avoided.

King Nugget, stick talking about things you know about which is obviously very little.

TTG changed its coach for three consecutive years all with promotion, we changed without promotion but stayed in div 2 (coming 3rd) then changed to LRO and came 3rd and KEPT him a second year and got relegated.

I am not bagging LRO for our relegation - we simply didnt have the players but it goes to show the stability theory you hold dear is not necessarily accurate you numpty. It depends on the club and circumstances.

3 promotions with 3 coaches
the last two times we have kept a coach for 2 years we have been relegated.

you add it up.

I can't believe what your saying 3 coaches get you promoted & then you piss them off because everytime you've had a coach for 2 years you get religated? Are you fk'n nuts? What about giving one of the coaches who gets you promoted or to a Cup Final what about giving them another year instead of pissing them off?
