Most & Least Goals conceded in a season
Just wondering what's the most & the least goals conceded this season in any Division? Div.1 Sunday is 29-11
And what's the record for the least & most goals conceded in a season in Div.1 ever?
This has come up before I think most goals conceded was Royal Park 40 something & least was 9 Elizabeth Vale M.Peace?
Swannsong can you enlighten us please...

Re: Most & Least Goals conceded in a season
Just off the top of my head nuggett..
For this list I looked solely (due to time limitations) at Sunday Division 1 but at some other time I might attempt to include all Divisions and Reserves. If anyone knows the names of goalkeeper that I didn't know, got wrong, or couldn't remember (...............) just let me know and I will edit them into the list.
For Sunday Division 1, Salisbury Inter hold the record in only conceding 3 goals in the 1989 season with
Tissy Simeoni in goals. Inter conceded the least goals in 11 seasons with Tissy in goal for 7 of those seasons.

Elsewhere, the lowest ever number of goals conceded that I can find is Ingle Farms Reserves in Division 3 in 2004.
Colin Smith was the Farm goalkeeper for that season.

Another worthy of mention is MA Hawks Reserves in Saturday Division 2, 2003 when they only conceded 3 league goals all season.
I believe that Michael Georgines may have been Hawks keeper for that season.

Wow 11 is a lot of goals but not as many as 17 we scored in the cup this year. I wonder what the most conceded in a game is? I remember Royal Park in Div.1 got spanked one year! Think they changed to Vikings after that Swannsong???Thomas Hassler wrote:i played in a peckers side, around 2001, 2002 (cant remember of the top off my head) that conceded a cabernet load of goals. i remember getting towled up 11-0 against eastside one sunday arvo.

Downs Beat Murray Bridge in a Cup Game 18v0 a couple years back. Bagged 8 myself that day. In saying that when the opposition rock up 15 mins b4 kickoff and the first thing they do is play on the flying fox, you know your not in for a hard day... Still well done for turning up when they could have easily forfeited and stayed at home with their feet up...nuggett69 wrote:Wow 11 is a lot of goals but not as many as 17 we scored in the cup this year. i could've sworn i was playing for the farm rezzies that year although the photo declares otherwise. maybe i was 1st team that year??? anyways, the goalkeeper in the picture is richy bales swanny. i'm pretty sure colin smith played mainly 1st team that season. i could be wrong. either way, 2 goals is an incredible effort.

Colin was in goals for most of that year but it was myself and David Howell which were the keys to the defencekinghenrik wrote:i could've sworn i was playing for the farm rezzies that year although the photo declares otherwise. maybe i was 1st team that year??? anyways, the goalkeeper in the picture is richy bales swanny. i'm pretty sure colin smith played mainly 1st team that season. i could be wrong. either way, 2 goals is an incredible effort.

Although Dave Howell was the reason we conceeded the two goals. He fouled a guy 25 yards out who scored top corner (we were playing the bottom team) and he condeeded a penalty in the last game of the season against Modbury Jets (which I was away for).
We didn't conceed from open play that year, didn't lose a game and only drew twice, both times to Modbury Jets.
King Henrick, you played a couple of games in the ressies that year but you were mainly in the first team.

Re: Most & Least Goals conceded in a season
I wish there was a record of goal kicks for a season...
'97 at The Cove was a tough year. Playing centre-half with a goalkeeper that didn't take goal-kicks, I think I just about kicked my leg clear off that season taking goal-kicks.
And the one game we did win...I was in Brisbane!!

One error in that newspaper clipping, swanny....swannsong wrote:
The Austria-33, Murray Bridge-0 result wasn't a Federation Cup game, it was a Federation "State League" game.
The split between the Association and the Federation was still going at the start of that season, and the Federation was trying to expand its power base by creating a "state league", with teams of very variable quality. At the beginning of June the split was resolved, and all the results from the fed. state league and the association were wiped out; federation second and third divisions then started again from scratch.
Roman Kauffman scored 13 goals in that win over Murray Bridge.... but "officially" the match never really took place!

Even Groomy scored
Dixie Dean was hailed by another Mersey legend, Liverpool’s Bill Shankly, as “belonging in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Rembrandt and Shakespeare.”
60 goals, never to be equalled.

Pretty sure that was the very talented baseball player Johnno Beech and it was a cracker of a free kick celebrated for about twenty minutes with at least three players removing their shirts and running round twirling them above their heads! It was against The Redbacks (now defunct) and for the record they were second bottom!Jay Walking wrote:Although Dave Howell was the reason we conceeded the two goals. In the return fixture at our ground we won 18-0. We were 4 up after 20 mins and then one of their guys handballed it on the goal line. I had to tell Gynn the ref not to send him off because it was hardly going to be a contest anyway. At half time, leading 7-0 or so, we came out of the change room and there they are having Crown Largers out of an Eskie on the pitch
