Messi played extremely well for Argentina.
Obviously it's relative, he didn't really play to his full potential. Ronaldo for me played well with Portugal the only thing is he was very isolated and didn't really have anyone else to work with when he did have the ball. Messi was the same except Messi was coming off a 40 goal season and he (arguably) has better quality players around him...also he had more opportunities than Ronaldo to score, but didn't. By his standards, he was poor.
Going to have to agree to disagree here then, because I believe Messi played very well and was by no means poor, by any standards. He didn't score, but he was extremely unfortunate in that sense. He was the focal point of Argentinas attacks.

The ball was released a year ago, national FA's had the choice to use it. All bar one (I believe) declined, how is that Adidas's fault?

It was never released to national teams until the start of this year however the start of last season saw it used in 2 national leagues, during the last season there were several training camps for most international teams most of which were left stranded as adidas had not shelved the balls until early december giving the majority of teams less opportunity to get themselves used to the ball.

the ball was released!

after qualifiers!!

With common sense the national sides would have used those balls in training for friendlies in the lead up since the release. Is that adidas's fault?

I can see you blaming individual FA's or FIFA but not adidas, and i think adidas is completely corrupt.

Far too often do you see strikers get on the end of good build up play to tap the ball in the net and run off like they have just saved the world from extinction rather than thanking the player whose hard work created the goal in the first place. Villa and Klose where both blessed with being in a side with a number of hard working creative midfield options however after scoring almost all of their goals ran off and celebrated to the crowd instead of appreciating the hard work done before hand.
Couldn't agree more. Its terrible that after brilliant interplay and team buildup, the player who has one touch (quite often a tap in) thinks they have the right to run away on their own and take the glory for themselves. Theres nothing better than seeing a striker running straight to his team-mates to celebrate after a goal such as this. Shows real class. Of course if its a wonderful individual goal then by all means, celebrate however you wish.

2 - Villa and Klose for scoring a bunch of midfield created goals and never thanking their providers
3 - Van Bommel for his dirty tactics
4 - Domenech for his lack of coaching ability killing a number of international careers
5 - Rooney for all of his hype not coming to the tournament
6 - Ronaldo for the same reasons as Rooney

7 - Asamoah Gyan for letting his country down not once but twice
8 - Anelka for starting a civil war in his camp
9 - Every Single fan blowing a damn Vuvuzela, ruined the atmosphere of WC's gone by and left most watchers turn the mute button on
10 - Adidas for releasing a ball and not allowing national teams enough time to get used to it giving some an un even advantage
I want to throw Maicon in at #11 for diving and then going off at the ref for not getting a free kick and the player not getting booked.

Also the whole Brazil and Portugal teams for putting on one of the most boring games ever in which I hoped it would be the best ever.
Hahaha it's great that you put them in and I agree...but if you're going to put Rooney and Ronaldo, you pretty much have to put Messi in as well...there is no way he lived up to his hype
Messi played extremely well for Argentina.
Well done Agger. Messi was brilliant in all games but the German Game were he was good. He had a massive amounts of shots that either just missed or was brilliantly saved by the keeper. You cannot compare the performance of Messi to either rooney or ronaldo. At least Messi tried.

problem is National teams have contracted kit and equipment suppliers, i would assume that unless they have a clause written into their contract stating they can use the WC ball leading upto the tournament i doubt they could if they wanted to.

But i think the ball controversy is overhyped tbh.

it's hardly adidas's fault if national teams have contracts for equipment suppliers is it?
