Yep. Fighting has no place in the game. Anyone that does it should be punished.

Re: Villa Vs Wanderers
I was a neutral observer to this one 'cos I was expecting a good match and I live nearby, but I didn't expect the end result.
Technically, the referee is part of the equation here.
If he had dealt with the instigating punches from Villa # 12 and then the kicks in the face from the bloke I was told was their then coach, it hopefully would have stopped what was to come. They also would've got at least 2-4 matches, but the league can't act if the referee doesn't put their names in the report.
I guess the free sausages came in handy after all.
So, the league's policies are useless due to the incompetence of the referee which led to the melee. The referee receives no punishment, just the clubs.
Also, just because players run onto the pitch - it doesn't mean their intention is to throw more punches etc. There are circumstances where the league recognises that people are trying to minimise damage and get people to safety. I didn't see the home match officials taking charge in this game.

Subs on the bench/spectators have no right to enter the field when a game is in play, and should not need to.GiveitabigWelly wrote: Also, just because players run onto the pitch - it doesn't mean their intention is to throw more punches etc.

So you wouldn't help your team mate if he was being kicked or punched in the face?crue head wrote:Subs on the bench/spectators have no right to enter the field when a game is in play, and should not need to.GiveitabigWelly wrote: Also, just because players run onto the pitch - it doesn't mean their intention is to throw more punches etc.
And by help, I don't mean join in, I mean drag them away from the action...
Re: Villa Vs Wanderers
because the more people there are involved, the more out of control it gets. as people get involved in the mob and personal responsibility goes down, more mayhem is likely.GiveitabigWelly wrote:So you wouldn't help your team mate if he was being kicked or punched in the face?crue head wrote:Subs on the bench/spectators have no right to enter the field when a game is in play, and should not need to.GiveitabigWelly wrote: Also, just because players run onto the pitch - it doesn't mean their intention is to throw more punches etc.

ps. neutral my ass
Re: Villa Vs Wanderers
No, and if i was a club marshall I wouldn't let anyone enter the field of play either. The referee is there to do a job, and if any recourse needs to be taken it's better to lodge a complaint to the league (as pointless as it may be) rather to run on the field with all fists swinging.GiveitabigWelly wrote:So you wouldn't help your team mate if he was being kicked or punched in the face?crue head wrote:Subs on the bench/spectators have no right to enter the field when a game is in play, and should not need to.GiveitabigWelly wrote: Also, just because players run onto the pitch - it doesn't mean their intention is to throw more punches etc.

For every one of our guys that goes on, another from the oppositon goes on, and then it goes overboard.

So you wouldn't protect your mates?

and as club marshall, that's pretty impressive that you could be everywhere at the same time and capable of controlling a whole crowd. Maybe the australian football team could use you next time to control the bottle throwing hooligans.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

neutral observer???

what u failed to mention was that The away teams players and spectators were the first to run onto the pitch into the melee.
Also, the away teams goalkeeper was the person who ran the whole length of the pitch to "kick someone in the head"!
so please, take off ur rose tinted glasses!
as for the refereeing, he did what any ref would do, he called off the game when both teams had players and spectators run onto the pitch!! he couldnt control the game after that.
I spoke with the ref after the game, and he told me he was quite happy to issue a few yellows and maybe 2 red cards, but as soon as the players and spectators ran onto the pitch, he knew it wasnt possible. Also, he said it himself, that the away team were the 1st to enter the field of play. And to my knowledge, the scuffle broke out near the touchline where kids were playing, this would explain the reason parents and concerned adults of the hoome team rushed towards the pitch!
neways, bad call by the SAASL!
Re: Villa Vs Wanderers
Would be veeeeeeery interesting if Wanderers got relegated by less then 3 points and Villa missed out on the title by less than 3 points!

Re: Villa Vs Wanderers
So let me get this right - are you saying that the Villa # 12 didn't punch Wanderers # 13 in the head after a yellow was given to Wanderers #15 i think? Are you also saying the Villa coach didn't kick anyone in the head? Are you also saying that you saw or participated in the melee while watching the GK run the length of the field - which never kicked anyone in the head?El Diego wrote:neutral observer???GiveitabigWelly wrote:I was a neutral observer to this one 'cos I was expecting a good match and I live nearby, but I didn't expect the end result.

As long as the SAASL are consistent & referees are honest this can only be a good thing clubs & supporters know what the cocequences are for a
all in & abandon game...
As for the theory 1 v 2 that Top would start a fight to get it abandon, So both teams wouldn't get any points...
What a stupid theory why wouldn't the Top team just go out & win?
And if they happened to be a couple down at half time & try to start something to get the game abandoned,
There is a Referee there Watching who will report on what happened?

If you saw all that you should be the ref!!
i didnt see anybody punch or kick anybody to start the melee.
All I saw was the incident which led to the melee, ie wanderer player foul the Villa player. there was push and shove and then a mass invasion on the pitch.
And yes, the Wanderers Keeper ran past me to enter the melee. But what was more dissapointing, was when the melee was finally broken up, he walked past the wanderers supporters gloating about how he ran to kick someone in the head. Pathetic really!
so just cos he didnt do it, does not justify his pathetic actions!
And sorry, im not a ref, but i commend his actions. Once the melee broke out, he had no other choice but to abandon the game!

its not stupid. I just hope it doesnt happen. But logically, the top team will want to play and win the game, but if they are losing, and they can stop the game, for whatever reason, i wonder if they will use the precedent put out there by the SAASL??
time will tell.
whats frustrating, is that the SAASL should of either awarded a point each to both teams, as the game was 1-1 at the time.
Or replay the game as only 10mins or so of the second half was played!
I feel BOTH teams have been punished!!
neways, done and dusted, time to move on!
Re: Villa Vs Wanderers
I don't think anyone, or team, would sink to that standard. But the way you are talking, I for one am hoping Villa aren't leading the comp on the final game of the year and are downEl Diego wrote:nuggett69 wrote:As long as the SAASL are consistent & referees are honest this can only be a good thing clubs & supporters know what the cocequences are for a

A.Villa would NEVER stoop so low!
Actually, a mate who plays at another club, told me about that scenario. It makes u think though!
Neways, hope it doesnt come back and bite SAASL in the rear.
its done and dusted, onto the rest of the season now!
