Australia v USA 1-3

Post by Russia2O18 »

not surprised by this result one bit

Yanks should've had 5..could've had more they cut us to pieces

probably the best opponent the Socceroos have faced since the last World Cup as far as quality + motivation is concerned and provides our clearest guide yet as to how Pim's side will fare at this World Cup.

although the more knowledgeable among us already knew this long ago..the signs were there, the quality of opponent wasnt good enough to put it on the scoreboard.

it could get even worse against the likes of the other group D teams

don't be such an idiot. What he said was smack on the money. What's wrong with a bit of brutal honesty here 8 days before coming up against Germany?

USA played us off the park. Our defence looked a complete shambles and Kennedy couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if his life depended on it....

The Yanks were a little off full strength and they destroyed Australia. Defence in particular Moore is way too slow. Kennedy, well CRAP, USELESS are a few words that come to mind.

We are just not good enough for the likes of Germany. Lets hope the Germans can destory Serbia and Ghana and the Aussies can some how come through in 2nd place.

To be quite frank, if Australia goes into the World Cup with that defence and that midfield, then expect the destroyisation that will come with it. Craig Moore was finished before he got to Kavala in Greece. If that club (which is a small club) was prepared to let him go after a few games, could you imagine how bad he really is??? Vince Grella is ready for over 35s, Bresciano...... Bresci whooooooo??? Excactly, Bresciano is finished, Cullinas season in the A-League showed last night, 3 paces behind the rest. The only positive for me was Chipperfield down the left side, brilliant really. Kennedy getting into goal scoring positions only to spray a few but at least he was getting into those positions, Garcias constant running at the US defence and his effort could not be questioned. In my opinion, Garcia needs to attack from the right flank and be allowed to take players on, its what he likes to do much like Chipperfield from the left. Its obvious Tim Cahill cannot be expected to do everything himself with the amount of passengers in that midfield. To add to Australias woes, people are saying dont forget Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton. Okay, lets not forget them and lets talk about them, can anyone answer how many minutes have Kewell and Emerton played in a competitive game in the last 3 months??? Apart from that, i have to be brutally honest and say Australia is fuctus maximus. Australia will score goals in its first 3 games, no doubt, but the amount it concedes im afraid may well triple the amount scored in my opinion.

Of course, i hope im very very wrong 8)

ease up fellas......

i believed Pim used this game to see how we can 'chase a game' if required. we would never start like that.......

of concern was kennedys inability to hold the ball up and bring others into the game (like viduka)...not to mention, missing his bread and butter...headers!!!

If P.V. wanted to see how his side " chased a game", I think he would have done that months ago, not 8 days before a W.C. You guys have serious problems, especially in defence, midfield & up front. Australia 1 v U.S.A. 3.

What has changed in 4 years to have some of you expecting Australia to match it with the best in the world?

We were all ecstatic to have made it in 2006 and took every slight victory as if we had won the bloody thing.

some here are kidding themselves with their blown up expectations.

We are at the World Cup with the best side(old as they are) we can muster, climb aboard and enjoy the ride.

edit: Last line seems to be confusing my point so away it goes.

Neither of mine qualified, so I will stick to Australia thanks. When they get knocked out, I will just hope for good quality games, preferably without all those frkn horns.

Frnaco, stop being a fucking w.anker mate. What has anyones opinion on the Australian National team got to do with another Nations??? At the end of the day, i will support both Greece and Australia, but im not kidding myself to think that either will get out of the group stage. I never said i wouldnt enjoy it either way, but the truth is the truth and if you cant handle it, then its you who needs to fuck off

Stop being so precious Col.....The world is not out to get you.......Really your not that important

It's not bad being a wanker, it relieves the tension.....Seriously try it.

My point is, since it went over you head, that Australia is in no better position than it was in Germany so why the high expectations.

Enjoy the fact that they are at the show....Seriously with the talent we have we will do well to get out of the group stage.

My last line wasn't an ethnic shot either, it was just pointed to the fact that you can support a more established nation if that is your heritage.....Safer bet and all that.

100% behind them and will enjoy every second that they are at the world cup.

I just believe in being realistic in my expectations.

The core are the same side that was at Germany, just 4 years older...They exceeded our expectations then, What's changed.

We've got Pim with his useless tactics instead of Guus
No Viduka
A player (Craig Moore) in the starting 11 who's preperation for the tournament was training with a QLD state league side.
Grella is now shit
Bresciano is also now shit
Kewell is crocked even more so than 2006
Do you want more examples?

My point exactly :? Why the high expectations???

and also

When I say "what's changed" I am asking why have some greater expectations now than last Cup?

Who said the world was out to get me??? Im about as important to the world as you are franco so my opinion is worth the same as yours and maybe worth a little bit more to people i know as yours possibly is to people you know

Id rather talk about my sexual fantasies and reliefs with the opposite sex, seriously, you should try that  :D
My point is, since it went over you head, that Australia is in no better position than it was in Germany so why the high expectations.
I dont care what your point was because i had already made my comments felt on Australias chances in this World Cup and no comment of yours was going to change that, rather, i responded to your ridiculous comment about fucking off and supporting my team of heritage
Enjoy the fact that they are at the show....Seriously with the talent we have we will do well to get out of the group stage.
I will enjoy every moment of the World Cup as i have done so even before Australia and Greece decided to start qualifying, that you can be assured of. For me, its a celebration of the Sport i love, the fact that i will follow 2 teams more closely than i have done in previous World Cups is a bonus. Having said that, the truths are the truths and i believe that both Australia and Greece will struggle to get out of their groups, shoot me ffs
My last line wasn't an ethnic shot either, it was just pointed to the fact that you can support a more established nation if that is your heritage.....Safer bet and all that.
Well it sure came across as an ethnic shot. And i would hardly call Greece a more established Football nation than Australia considering this Greeces 2nd time at the WC and Australias 3rd. Australia would surely be the safer bet although id be more than happy to lose more sleep than i have allowed for the both of them  :D

What does supporting them have to do with where i think how far they will go??? Listen mate, you wont get a more passionate supporter than myself, but at the same time im bright enough to understand the difference between dreams and reality. Having said that, im one of the lucky few supporters in the Football world to have actually experienced a dream that turned real (EURO 2004) even though i thought it impossible, however, i also know these things happen maybe once in 10 lifetimes and can understand even better the difference between the 2 now

However, dont question my passion or my support for my teams because those who know me know how passionate i am 8)

Only you could take it that way  I think you enjoy playing the persecuted.
The fact I included the word "we" would point to the fact it was a general comment......Wouldn't be the first time though you have read more into something to play the martyr

Colossus i agree with you too

Will cheer for the aussies as much as the pomms 'cause that's what the world cup is about.

Don't be suprised if Australia fail to score a goal  but rejoice when they do.

Get out of the group stage is a huge challenge and if they do . . . . more rejoicing.

Agree this world cup we (australia) have set our sights high and have expectations to improve on the past efforts.

As for the English team, well i'll go for the standard quarter final exit and anything else is a bonus. :D
