Hi
What age groups are covered?
The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

Players can trial from year 8 to year 13, they can not be older then 19 though if they are in year 13.

Any more info on this; what is State School girls? Do they play in SA or interstate? Cost factor?

My daughter would love to be involved but I need to juggle all the training & dollars involved with all these football commitments we have at the moment.

where do these girls sit in relation to the state team?
surely a clear overlap in terms of participants

There would only be an overlap where parents have very deep pockets... lots of money is a pre-requisite for any one wishing to participate in both teams rather than just one!!
For many girls the FFSA 'State Teams' would be their priority, not schoolgirls - the general perception is that FFSA state teams involve those girls who take their football 'more seriously', whereas schoolgirls is seen more as 'a bit of fun' and is often 'second choice'. I've heard quite a few girls saying they wouldn't make state teams so they would try schoolgirls instead.
Note I say this is a 'general' perception, I'm sure there are some who see it differently.

Good luck to all the girls who trial for this team (about 40 at first trial I heard?). Hope all those who are selected have a great time and are able to learn from the experience of being involved in a 'national' competition - after all not many people get such an opportunity.

i heard that the girls were told they werent allowed to play club due to their schoolgirls commitments.............. does that mean they cant attend school - technically it is a "school"girls tournament. what the?!

I believe the message was probably that because the Schoolgirl team is an FFSA sanctioned state team, that schoolgirl commitments come before club, not that they couldn't play club at all.

That sounds more like it - girls trialling for U17 FFSA state dev squad were told 'state' commitments come before both SASI & club.

It's a pity the clubs can't be more encouraging for state players they get very touchy and smile with gritted teeth with overlapping trainings etc.

Obviously depends on which club you are with. We are very supportive of girls being in state squads, sasi, etc and we always have been. We actively encourage girls to participate in state teams.
Can't say we are thrilled when some of our players end up not being able to attend any club training at all as a a result, but we still do the right thing and support the girls in what they are doing.

I heard that girls who have returned to school but have children at home cant trial for state schoolgirls.

If they can get babysitters like they do for school can they still play?

If not, is this discrminating against some of the girls?

Just wondering since the trials have come and gone if there has been a team selected, and if so who made it?
