i rekon it was hadji for morroco in the 98 world cup who set the trend for coloured boots lol. not like its a bad thing tho. much better than shiraz disguting lookin black boots, black is effin horrible. plus the boots u buy depends on what type of player u are. i.e. position etc. t90's are typical strikers boots, and possible wingers. mercurials are best for wingers and very quick attacking players, CTR's are best for CM/DM for the surface of the boot, its not a flat as mercurials and predators so its better for passing on the ground etc. predators are best for attacking type players and free kick takers, cause of the jelly like surface on the boot and the shape nearing the toe, it allows more controlof the shot and passes. predator 8's and 9's are great for connectivity, the feeling when u strike the ball is alot nicer than the X's and its alot more of a cleaner strike. dont kno a whole lot about puma's but they seem to be a popular choice for alot of strikers too e.g. etoo and kennedy etc. diadora's and lotto's seem to be popular for GK's too.
as for the blisters, these days to get the most out of your boots, you need to get the fit as slim as possible, not so much as ur feel are turning purple but just enough to get ur toes moving at a mimimun, this will stop the blisters to..hence no rubbing. (no movement, no rubbing, no blisters) if your boots are too lose and u have alot of movement your shots and passes will be skewed by the softness and possible slight wrinkles created when striking the ball, not by a massive margin, but u can tell the difference. nike and adidas etc have this good science about slim fitting gettin the best performance. it is bein applyed to all their products one way or another.

You cant honestly say that certain boots are suited to certain positions. Actually thats laughable.....
Black boots, coloured boots, who gives a toss. I never in my life thought i would wear white or coloured boots, but currently wear preditors cos they fit my feet the best. white and black ones wear the ones available at the time so thats what i wear. I'm a defender or DM and i will wear the boots that are the most comfortable.

im not saying there is a wrong boot for a position. just saying if u want the most out of your role, there are boots designed to do certain things a little bit better than others.

yea but no boot is gonna protect u from dirty challenges. it wont matter if your wearing pele's boots or C.Ronaldo's boots. difference is C.ronaldo's are better designed to play football.

and thats where today's 'opinion' comes into it. do you what do u sacrifice in gain for another... weight/protection or speed/weight/ better ball control.

the speed gain is negligible, and you'll only have good ball control if you're a good player

It's a great idea for the reasons provided, but can limit the kinds of boots you can wear. These days, a lot of the boots are being made only in certain colours, and not in black. A good example of this is the new Nike T90 model that is mostly green (though I think there's a white option for certain versions of that boot).

Personally, I have a black pair of Mercurials that I only bought because the fit and price were great, and some black Tiempo boots that I bought ages ago for soft ground, which were half price a couple of years ago (and don't get much use, admittedly). But I'll be buying a new pair of cheap T90 3 boots (the lower end version), because I need a new pair of firm ground boots, and those in particular feel great to wear.

I hope I never play in your side, because twisting and turning is part and parcel of playing football. And that is where blades will stick and round studs won't.
