Under 16s
Is the Under 16 league a competitive league this season? By that i mean are the teams playing for promotion/relegation? If not its just a waste of a league like it has been since it was introduced.

Re: Under 16s
I don't think the boys worry too much about these things - they seem to be happy just training and getting ready for the season ahead. The 16As could be an interesting comp this season with little resemblance to last year's 15As.

what do u mean by that?
is this because many players from last year's 15s went up to 17s or 19s???

That combined with players switching clubs.rossonero wrote:what do u mean by that?

Hardly any of Para Hills 15As in this year's 16As and possibly none of last year's Modbury 15s in this year's squad. Campbelltown have lost a few to Blue Eagles and the Enfield 15As have scattered far and wide with quite a few in the Croydon 16As. Birkalla dominated last year's 15Bs so will be interesting to see what they bring to the 16As.

Re: Under 16s
the last three years the 16A comp determined were the teams played in the follwoing 17 comp and too many clubs neglect this as the run the risk of not gaining promotion or getting relegated to lower division the folloeing year

Re: Under 16s
Don't think so. As far as I was aware it was only last year that that 16s qualified the 17s. Previously it was always the 15s that qualified the 17s, so the 16s was a bit of a 'dead' year. The 17s has, imo, always been a bit of a non-event since it's the last year before seniors, and most of the better / bigger lads often moved from 15s straight into 19s.gl1968 wrote:the last three years the 16A comp determined were the teams played in the follwoing 17 comp and too many clubs neglect this as the run the risk of not gaining promotion or getting relegated to lower division the folloeing year
At least by making the 16s more competitive, it's only the 17s that's a bit iffy.

Should be from now onwards as the 16s finishing place actually means something whereas the 17s doesn't.gl1968 wrote:sorry i stand corrected but i wish the clubs realise the 16s comp can jsut a s good if not better than the 17s

Re: Under 16s
Can't read too much into it this early on, but my spies tell me Croydon 16As beat their 17s 5-0 in a trial game this week, while ABE 16s have been putting up a good show against their own 17s and 19s as wellgl1968 wrote:sorry i stand corrected but i wish the clubs realise the 16s comp can jsut a s good if not better than the 17s

Did they play State U/14 and if so how did they go!Stitch This wrote:Can't read too much into it this early on, but my spies tell me Croydon 16As beat their 17s 5-0 in a trial game this week, while ABE 16s have been putting up a good show against their own 17s and 19s as wellgl1968 wrote:sorry i stand corrected but i wish the clubs realise the 16s comp can jsut a s good if not better than the 17s
Re: Under 16s
Result was 1 all but very misleading. U14 State side played great soccer. Have improved alot from last year. Dominated the midfield - far more skillful, much fitter and played triangles around Croydon. Croydon defence was totally disorganised.
Hats off to the U14 state coaches & players - the players are very skillful and play the ball. Some of these players look about 11 but can they play.

Birkalla and Comets 16's are supposed to be promoted to the A's this year but the federation is keeping them in the B's
Re: Under 16s
Can someone post the teams in 16As. Whats the story with Birkalla & Comets - seems a touch unfair. Birkalla were great last year and deserve promotion. Feel sorry for the kids and coaches.

Re: Under 16s
The 16A's is a good launching pad into 19s.
Especially for boys turning 17 which is a good age to start senior football.
Most of 2009 Hawks U16A's under Raymond Blair are now in the Hawks U19's under Blairy

Re: Under 16s
comets 16's vs croydon 17A's 8-0 win to comets
comets 16's vs olympic 19's 3-1 win to comets
And they will be playing in the A's this season with birkalla who deserve to be there will be strong league i believe.
