United eye Wolfsburg's Dzeko

Post by B-Boy »

Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has hinted that the Premier League champions could make a move to sign Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko, 23, has been linked with a host of top clubs from around Europe since helping Wolfsburg win the German league title last season.

The Bosnian, who has 14 goals in 23 appearances for his country, scored against United when the sides met in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season and Phelan has admitted the club have been looking at him since because he has the ideal style for the English game.

"I'm sure there are a number of teams looking at him. Are we one on them? We are looking at talent all of the time and we are in there with the rest of them," Phelan said.

"He showed his threat in the game at Old Trafford and he appeals because he is a tall, skilful boy and in some ways he is an ideal player for the English league.

"He has stature, his feet are good and he is producing some good performances. I am sure everybody has looked at him."

So are Arsenal and Chelsea. I'm not sure he'll leave in January though.

They are all looking at him, but his heart wants to play at AC Milan. Will be a very interesting outcome in the January window.

Huntelaar is linked with Twente in the Italian Press this morning.

If that goes through, Dzeko will be at Milan next season.

Looks like Van Nistelrooy will go to Roma on loan in the Winter market.

how have united signed other players?
they manage the debt through the profits from merchandising and use what comes in from transfers to buy again, still have 90% of the ronaldo money sitting in the bank

The Glazer family, the owners of Manchester United, are struggling to refinance their enormous debts amid concerns about the impact they are having on the club.

The Times understands that the Americans have been trying unsuccessfully to secure a refinancing package for part of the club’s £699 million debt for months, having failed in 2007 and last year, because of the bleak global economic climate.

Fans’ groups have cast doubt over whether they will ever see the £80 million raised from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal forward, to Real Madrid last summer reinvested in the squad.

Dragan Djuric, the Partizan Belgrade president, meanwhile claimed this week that United pulled the plug on a deal to sign Adem Ljajic, the Serbia Under-21 midfield player, because “maybe they are in financial crisis”.

United dismissed Djuric’s claims and a spokesman for the Glazer family has maintained publicly that there is plenty of money available for Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager, to spend on players, but supporters are unlikely to be pacified until they see the arrival of some big names or evidence that the spiralling debt is under control. The main concern is understood to centre around the £175.5 million worth of debt that the Glazers are personally responsible for, not the £518.7 million of loans secured against the club.

united aren't fucked the glazers are, they are responsible for the 180mil still outstanding under their name, should read the article a little better, not the club, sir alex always gets his man, so if he wants dzeko, there will be a bid

yeah but that is not overdue or in need of urgent refinancing as it is attached to the clubs and based on their assets i would assume, while the 180 is the glazers personal debt they couldn't put on united, and thats the part that needs refinancing

How long are creditors expected to wait for their 518.7 million from United? At the end of the day somethings gotta give and United will need to pay that money off soon!

i'm guessing that would be getting point off in monthly instalments and such as part of the finances at united, although its 500mil + its not a big issue for united as their assets are worth more plus their merchandising sales are astranomical so this should cover repayments
