Re: Reserves are back!
'Home grown' previously meant that a player needed to be registered at a club for 3 years before they were considered home grown.
Having that status is not that easy for some of the younger players now in sasi or hoping for a scholarship next year! I hope the revised 'home grown' policy takes this into account when they release it within the next week, and ideally would provide some sort of exemption for 'junior' players from the sasi 'head-count' for a club.
As I previously stated in a different topic, how fair is it to tell a 14 or 15 year old girl she cannot move to her club of choice because of the sasi rule, and what real advantage is there in having more than 3 14-17 year old sasi players at a club? (not a lot, was more of a problem when sasi age group was say mainly 18 - 25, more than 3 sasi players of that age group would make a difference.)

"home-grown" definition for W-League yet to be advised by FFSAThe General wrote:Can some one please define "home - grown ", as i believe that Donna Cockayne was at Salisbury United for two seasons, prior to trying her luck at the higher division.

Where does it state that you have to be with a club for 3 years before being considered home-grown ? I thought it meant where you actually started. No club can claim to call a player home-grown unless they began there. As for your other topic, that is different topic all together.pvfc wrote:'Home grown' previously meant that a player needed to be registered at a club for 3 years before they were considered home grown.

Re: Reserves are back!
General, you asked someone to define the meaning of "home-grown"... Why now do you question it?
As I understand it, PVFC is correct.
Being "home-grown" simply means that a player has shown loyalty to a certain club for a number of years.

From the FFSA competition rules 2009;The General wrote:Where does it state that you have to be with a club for 3 years before being considered home-grown ? Eligibility to Register.
10.1 An Associate SASI Scholarship holder is defined as a person who accepted an Associate
SASI Scholarship and participated in the program, irrespective of the length of that
participation, in the year of registration or the preceding year.
10.2 A player is classed as a home grown player if the player has never been registered with a
FFSA Girls and Women’s Club or has been with their current club for a minimum of three
consecutive years.
10.3 Each Girls and Women’s Club is entitled to register a maximum of three (3) SASI
Scholarship holders. Such players should in the first instance be home grown players.
Where a club does not have three such players they may be permitted to recruit SASI
Scholarship players from the available pool.
10.4 If a club has more than three home grown players selected as SASI Scholarship holders,
the club is entitled to register all of those players.
10.5 If a club has three or more home grown players, the club may register all of these
players but will not be permitted to register players recruited from other clubs and then
subsequently register those originating from their own club. Clubs should therefore give
careful consideration to those players they wish to register prior to the closing date of
registrations.
Re: Reserves are back!
hahahaah yeh beaches it was always the year just gone and the year ahead that players were counted as sasi players. dont see why it would change
Re: Reserves are back!
That was the SASI ruling as people have pointed out but, last year (2009 season) there seemed to be a few excemptions based on the previous year ruling( I am not having a go at Metro as good luck to them for being able to recruiting quality players in 2009) but if you go through metros squad in 2009 there seemed to be more than 3 sasi players in the squad based on the information sawsa/ffsa sent out to clubs in 2008/2009 and based on the scholarship holders list from the previous year and ruling from 2008/2009, based on this info metro seemed to have more like 5/6 players who technically were classed as sasi players from previous year.
Having said this though I believe one of the argument ffsa pointed out for allowing these players to play at the same club was that because some of these players did not sign their contract with sasi from the previous year, even though these players played and trained with sasi in 2008, they were, as a result of not signing their contracts, not technically considered as sasi players from the previous year.
IMO there should not be any ruling preventing players playing anywhere, as some others have already pointed out, everyone playing, particularly amateur players who basically 'pay fees' to play, and play for enjoyment should have the 'freedom of choice' to play where ever they decide. Even more so where young female players are concerned as they often want to play with there friends at the same club. What right do other people have to tell them they cannot play at club x because club x already have 3 other sasi players.

Re: Reserves are back!
There have been a number of girls play for SASI (not scholarship holders) due to injury to scholarship holders or away at camps and International duties. Unfortunately I cannot name those Metro girls BARBARIAN is referring to, perhaps we can be enlightened. I have looked to 2008 scholarship holders and found Ebony Weidenbach who is also 2009. Lauren Chilvers probably. Rachel King?? Yes a lot of maybe former scholarship holders at SASI but which year?? If a girl never signed a contract for a SASI scholarship then they would not count.
So the law regarding current and preceding years has not changed thank you to Gubs and PVC for the clarification.

Re: Reserves are back!
Considering the W-league players rarely train with their clubs after mid season, they'd still be receiving quality training sessions 3-4 times per week. So really, they'd only be training with their clubs for the start of the season, after then, they're off to W-League. As for SASI players, I know they rarely train with club due to games being on Wednesday nights and Friday night being their only night off. Hence, players' performances shouldn't drop my changing clubs because they rarely actually train there.Commando wrote:I didn’t say they have no challenging trainings but you’d have to be pretty dillusional to think that the standard of players and skills eetc that will be at the trainings of the so called ‘’sh-it’’ clubs will match those of the good clubs…and the difference in playing/skill standards is pretty obvious when you see the results each week…
