Not often I agree with Geoff Roach but our greedy socceroos did their usual pre-world cup strike threat. In addition to match payments they also get 25 % of merchandise sales and FFSA appearance money.

I agree players should be rewarded for getting Australia there but the average salary from club football would be $1m a year each. All of those players have learned the game in Australia surely a smaller sum would be bettter be perceived by joe public. The game is just taking off in Australia and thsoe funds would be better spent on developing future talent in Australia.

Come on guys don't be greedy.

if you look into what neill is saying he wants to make sure future generations of socceroos are getting paid enough so they can earn a living out of soccer

The socceroos are fairly steady and consistant. I think the area in which we struggle is when we have to take the game to the opposition and attack. I think many times we are on the backfoot, and although we are defensively sound and can match it with some of the top teams, when we play against opposition like Oman, we tend to struggle.

I thought we lacked some creativity against Oman, i think the absence of Bresciano was a big impact.

dont you mean, make a killing?

if you took half of what they get paid for national team duties from them and returned it to the bottom rungs of the a-league, the average salary would rise significantly. this would contribute significantly to Austrlaian players being able to play the game professionally, not over inflated socceroos payments. Neil is a mercinary tool.
