DOWNSSSssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
As much as saddens me to do so, I will congratulate the downs on winning the league and champions trophy.
well done
However one must ask whether the money thrown at players this year was worth it??????
And will the players return next year once the money well runs out?????
I mean u did not win the cup
But, winning 2 of of 3 tournaments is pretty FANTASTIC, any other teams achieve this at amateur level??????????
well done

We got Ova' Here?? #ACCUPAHATERS!

I think you will find that the Downs will have a decent surplus from this year which will be spent on improving the facilities in the clubrooms.
Winners make money. A simple business plan.
Me thinks a win win situation that can easily be repeated next year.
And the next.
And the next.
And the next......................

i don't know where all this money thrown at the players comes from, but what are soccer clubs about?
winning leagues etc, i would think so if the club thinks that is where the money is best spent why not....lets face it we had never won one b4 it was about time the club did.
i'm pretty sure 90% of the squad will be returning at least, we just need to keep in the ears of the 2 big units, and a couple others about not hanging up the boots just yet

at least the club won some prize money this year, so the players feel like they have given something back.
and at least we have something else to strive for next year....all 3
Tony Scalzi - best player in the league last year stayed at AV Metro. Downs did recruit well in Taylor, Fuda and Reeves, but its debatable if they are the best 3 players in the league. Seems Gardens recruited another striker this year, just as good as the one they lost to the downs.smegger wrote:wayne kerr
downs have always plenty of money and on paper have always had very good squad
just this is the first time they've actually won something
although this year they recruited the three best players from their opposition rather than getting federation players ( playford etc )

We were very lucky to have T Scalzi play another year at AV, he is a champion footballer and an even nicer bloke off the ground.
