You are probably right beaches. Our girls don’t leave because they are getting chased rather because they’ve exhausted their opps (or lack of) in SA. Gianna comes to mind as someone who left for o/s to pursue opportunity. Was it the right decision for her and for her sport? Maybe maybe not.

The SA soccer scene has lost many good people and in most cases has been poorer for it. Consider these points:

1) Good coaches put up their hands to coach at various levels but due to frustration and other stuff, left the game.
2) Good administrators have walked away. Thrashed by clubs and frustrated by the hierarchy.

3) Good experienced players who once were the backbone have left the game. For good? well some have and many others are just thinking.

What’s left?

A big gap (HOLE) left by those people who are gone.

why do people not embrace change?
ok so some people have left the game, whats wrong with putting some faith in the up and coming players?
if we're all about development, why does everyone want it to be kept the same, with the same players, and the same coaches and the same administrators. i think some people need to let go of the way it used to be.

NEWS FLASH! things change, people change, they decide they dont wanna play anymore, big deal! its their decision, we cant judge them for it. we play because we want to. Those of us that wanna chase opportunities will do so, if it means leaving SA for a while then so be it! Let them have their chance.

dont condemn them to always playing here, cuz we've established that we're way behind in the opportunity field.

Still no answer to my question, regards who has left SA to play for other W-League clubs.

The likes of Gianna went overseas to further her education and also play football at a high level. Gianna can best answer that.

One cannot put players who have gone overseas in the same category. Whether as a student athlete or a professional player.

I left SA for a few reason and I think the longer I have been in the states the more clarity I have. Strange right. Well I initially considered college because I wanted to be able to play soccer at a high level and still complete a degree. However, for most of you who know me I have a huge desire to play for the matildas. For a short period of time I lost hope in that dream and I conceeded to the fact I would prob stop playing soccer after college. Then the professional league started and I got the opportunity to play for an amazing W-league team over here, and I realised if I stay over here and continue to play on these high level teams my dream still might b possible. I would love to play W-league in Aus but I dont know how that would all work out. To be honest I really dont know how the standard is right now but by the sounds of it I might be better off staying here. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I still dont think the intensity in SA is at the appropriate level to benefit older ones trying to break to national team. I dont know if I answered your question but feel free to ask anything specific.

Adelaide United’s Women’s Team has added another five players to its squad for the second season of the Westfield W-League.

Reds W-League Coach Mike Barnett has secured local girls Ashlee Faul and Ruth Wallace to the squad, while he has also signed Queensland based pair Georgia Chapman and Tenneille Boaler.

Spoke to someone who is friends with this player and they said apparently Stacey Day has been approached by Mike and his team and she will be on a flight back sometime in August. Anyone else know or heard of this?

Has she signed or is it a trial??

Would be great to get her back.
