i personally didnt see the tackle, just heard it came from behind. it was obviously nasty, and I dont think anyone would've argued if it had been given a red card... she does feel horrible though, i know that doesnt make it any better but yeah. where did the "get up you sook" comment come from?

i disagree however with you saying that fulham were unlucky not to get the 3 points. we definately had our chances. both teams had a lucky save by a defender off the goal line. i think it was a pretty good game, could've easily gone either way!

haha theres only one more game between us this season! lets hope its a good one!

well, the way i see it is that whether or not it was a red card and whether or not the ref gave a red card, isn't going to change anything.
it's a contact sport, and accidents do happen.
there's only two things about a match you do not have any control over, the conditions, and the referees.
so yeah, while they might be shit, you can't change that, so i'd learn to live with it.

you didnt.
you said that "its a contact sport and accidents do happen"

can i just say, not disregarding gubs word, cuz i didnt even see the tackle, but maybe the ball was closer than gubs thought it was (purely based on gubs being in goal at the other end of the pitch), maybe the player genuinely thought she could get the ball. she obviously misjudged it, but heck, if there was a red card for every misjudgement that resulted in a bad tackle, there'd be more than 1 red card in every game!

& yes i am aware that tackling from behind is not acceptable, but hey, i think its safe to say we've all done a tackle or 2 we're not proud of.

the player whose leg was broken is a defender. i had probably the best view of the incident. i saw the first clip and then i saw the "tackle"

okay okay
fair sure she said "not disregarding gubs word"
and she potentially has some merit in what she said
just because she's a defender, doesn't mean you had the best view, angles can be tricky
and i'm not saying you didn't have a good view.
i'm just saying she could have had a point there.

anywhooooo
i think this is all irrelevant.
the tackle was bad
the girl feels terrible and did not mean to injure
the ref probably should have given a red
and erins leg is broken
there's the facts
what's left to discuss?

yeah sorry gubs i wasnt saying you were wrong, just yeah as ecky said, the angles could've been tricky and perhaps the ball was closer than it seemed.
you saw more than me, im not trying to create my own version.
i was just putting an idea out there.

I was at this game and was standing up the hill a little way and had a reasonably good view of the incident.

To put a none Fulham / Cumby as I have no involvement with either club, my view on the tackle is that it appeared to come almost directly from behind. Now as most people have said the girl didn't mean to break Erin's leg so that is enough on deliberate or not. In my little opinion on any given day a red card could have been produced straight up as I have seen players sent off for less. The ref was close and had in my opinion, a clear view on what had just taken place.

To me part of the problem may come from 'refs' becoming more focused on the injured player/s rather than what has just taken place. I say this with respect to the ref/s out there but at times when a 'bad' tackle has taken place the refs, as they should, have been more worried about the player/s but then let the player who caused the problem get away by way of a yellow card or no card at all as has happened at times.

Again, not defending the player who committed the foul or trying to hang her either just my opinion as to what took place but also confirm that gubs is very much on the money for the 'two tackles'.

thanks for clearing that up for the people that didnt see that tackle adelaidepie. Its good to see that people have stopped trying to throw accusations around.

Hopefully you also noticed that the cumby girl involved in the tackle, whilst still playing a brilliant game, she certainly did think more about what she was doing and made no more hasty or dangerous tackles.

So yes, while we all agree that a red card could've easily been warranted, I think the guilt the girl is feeling over having broken poor Erins leg is punishment enough for her, for now at least. If these dangerous tackles were continuously made then yes, perhaps a more severe consequence, but for the one off, misjudged, really bad tackle that it was, i think its safe to say that everything that could be said, has been said?

im pretty sure it was just some bruising, nothing too serious!
not like the broken leg, but yes it was a similar circumstance, so thanks for understanding where im coming from :)
